    Pros

It has a good environment to work and study at the same time. My co-workers were very friendly. They offer good opportunities to grow as a professional.

    Cons

I have nothing bad to say about my time at the University of Oklahoma. I enjoyed my time working there.

    Advice to Management

My only advice would be to probably allow students to evaluate their advisers after graduating; that would improve the programs at the University.

    Pros

The University of Oklahoma is fully committed to its faculty and staff. It is clear that if it is in your best interests it is in theirs as well.

    Cons

As you will find in any academic institution. Politics get in the way of progress. Grudges get in the way of collaboration. And laziness gets in the way of healthy confrontation.

    Advice to Management

Move employees around more often. Once bad blood creeps into a department it rarely creeps itself back out.

    Pros

Good public transportation (at least compared to Oklahoma City)
good opportunities for scientific research (but this greatly depends on the department and funding)
nice campus (buildings and open spaces)
    fast internet access
    decent food options
    extensive libraries

    Cons

Parking is costly and sometimes difficult to find unless you want to go to the lloyd noble center and wait for the shuttle
campus size sometimes makes travel between different areas time consuming (parking is a factor in this)
pay can be equivalent to part-time work

    Advice to Management

Keep in touch with new workers, and try to have some more departmental events or activities to foster cooperation
Streamline the time card process to digital cards instead of printing out forms

    Pros

The people I work with are fun, relaxed, and know what they are doing. We are treated as a family

    Cons

The work an be repetitive and slow at times. Others outside my immediate department could learn to better function in their job roles.

    Pros

Works great with students for scheduling. Lenient, but effective policy on tardiness due to potential conflicts with class, professor office hours, etc. Great team attitude

    Cons

There is not much room for raises, but that is to be expected in jobs of this nature. Taking on a lot more responsibilities through promotion results in very minimal raises.

    Advice to Management

Continue to hire in a way that allows for student employees to work times that work best as the students primary reason for being there is an education.

    Pros

The graduate student education at the University of Oklahoma varies by department. I would say the best thing about being a graduate student has been the opportunity to connect with others in my field. The department has brought it people from all over the United States for the graduate students to interact with. Additionally, many of us have been able to travel all over the world to attend international meetings.
I also appreciate the graduate student life office and staff for all the do.

    Cons

The student health insurance is probably the worst part about being a graduate student at the University of Oklahoma. They might as well say the graduate student health policy is "don't get sick".

    Advice to Management

Get better health insurance for the graduate students. It is terrible that the University does whatever is best for business instead of what is best for the students.
