    Pros

    none it was a job

    Cons

Managers have no commons sense or any kind of proper education on how to run a practice. I have work for 4 locations for Penn with all different managers and i can honestly say they all SUCK. No one knows what or how to run and operate a business half of them don't have a degree to the first and were grandfathered into their position. I resigned from them once i had my son after four years.

    Advice to Management

Learn to hire managers that can actually handle and manage others. If they don't have a back bone they can't manage

I have been working at University of Pennsylvania full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The institution is solid. The benefits are pretty good.

    Cons

In a salaried position, your supervisor may bend the rules your contract outline. Overall I felt it was well worth it for getting what was, for me, interesting work and good experience.

    Pros

Unmatched at any other university. They offer tuition reimbursement for children at any school, not just Penn, and also for spouses at Penn.

    Cons

Only negative is you have to pay taxes on your own tuition reimbursement but I believe that is federal law

    Advice to Management

continue programs like models of excellence to reward and recognize staff for going above and beyond. Possible redo performance evaluation system

    Pros

I first sought employment at Penn over a decade ago because of the benefits. I gave up some salary, figuring that the benefits were great, the job was secure and growth was a strong possibility at such a large institution, so it would all work out in the end.

    Cons

However, over the years the benefits have eroded, the salary still stinks, and while growth is a very real possibility for some people, others get stuck where they are forever.

    Advice to Management

Know what you are getting into. There's a lot of good things going on at Penn, and if you schmooze the right people, and have the patience of a saint, you'll do just fine. However, adjusting to living according to 'University Time' can become a very tedious exercise for others.
