I have been working at University of Phoenix

    Pros

Working with state of the art applications for on-line learning. Helping students to "grasp the knowledge of accounting" and seeing that aha moment.

    Cons

The time it takes to do "off-line paperwork that is required." There was a large learning-curve to adjust to on-line teaching and not seeing facial expressions and other body-language that can be so telling of the students understanding of concepts and methodology. Many other communication tools have helped overcome this obstacle. New technology and experience have helped overcome this "con".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to listen to all the facilitators/professors who teach classes. You have your finger on the pulse of needs. It is essential to continue innovative growth through new ideas and technologies. It was wonderful working for the University of Phoenix. I may be back!

I worked at University of Phoenix

    Pros

The pay is very competitive. There are several locations where you are allowed to teach. All of the instructors have to meet the minimum educational requirements (at least a Masters degree and experience in the field). It is a rewarding job and the pay can really add up after a few years.

    Cons

I have no negative comments for this company. If I had the time, then I would teach again for the University of Phoenix. I miss the job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the great work. Other colleges are pursuing some of the practices of the University of Phoenix (online instruction, electronic books, and so on).

I have been working at University of Phoenix full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

They invest in the professional development of their employees. Free tuition for employees is a crazy amazing benefit.

    Cons

The phone jobs can be boring or frustrating at times, but it is mind over matter.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would advise management to consider giving their subordinates more freedom and trust. I have a fantastic manager, but not all of the employees are as lucky.

I worked at University of Phoenix full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Even though I was part of a RIF, I still say this is a great company to work for. Groups generally work well together, there is transparency (as much as possible) and with almost a decade with the school, and working elsewhere, I would recommend them to others.

They support flexibility for workers where possible
    They have good community support
Plenty of room for personal growth

    Cons

Plenty of worker-bees, so at some point you can't get much "higher" without changing departments (which can be done).

I have been working at University of Phoenix as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great training. Very reliable side income. Depending on how many classes you qualify for, could be full time. Great flexibility.

    Cons

Hard to know if your assignments (contracts) will continue from one to the next. It's all based on need at the time.

I have been working at University of Phoenix part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Very flexible schedule for asynchronous classroom, allowing instructors to work a full time job at another company while facilitating classes outside of normal business hours. Compensated training for senior part time faculty via an annual cash bonus.

    Cons

The training and course materials can be unengaging but this is not a significant criticism. Each new version of the online classroom and course materials has been an improvement over the previous version.

I have been working at University of Phoenix

    Pros

The training was not dreadful! You actually learn about the university and everything it offers. You receive tuition reimbursement.

    Cons

Little opportunities to grow in the company. Calling students who never wanted to be students in the first place. haha
