I worked at University of Phoenix full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Standard benefits are competitive, the best part is the 52% discount on your education and $5250 in fees waived annually. Your education at the bachelors level is waived with the exception of the resource fee.

    Cons

Strong sales environment despite behavior based performance management. No opportunity for advancement and change is constant. The organization makes all decisions with profitability as the primary motivator. As a result employee morale has been compromised leading to many resignations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider your front-line employees and request feedback before making knee-jerk decisions.

I worked at University of Phoenix full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Great pay, great coworkers who don't understand that for profit education is a scam.

    Cons

You treat your students like crap. You don't care about them, but only care about them getting into class so the University can make money off of them. High quota of cold calls. Sometimes you're calling people who've been in the database for 10 years and they'll yell out you because obviously, they don't want to be bothered. Some students have had families, have gotten better jobs, and they think of University of Phoenix as a joke. Company has awful values. In training, they told us to focus on quality customer service and that we were not pressured to enroll. When I got back from training, my manager essentially told me to forget the service, don't spend time helping the students, but get them to enroll at all costs, even if they're in debt. I had one potential student who wasn't sure of what she wanted to do or what degree she wanted. My manager listened to the conversation and wanted me to enroll the student in a program that the student didn't express interest towards. Horrible values for a University that doesn't stack up against traditional colleges. The instructors are not all qualified to teach in their subjects, most aren't certified, and the curriculum is not as advanced as they make it out to be. Horrible work/life balance. Unusual shifts. High turnover rate in this position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually follow the values that you hang up on your walls.

I worked at University of Phoenix full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay is fair and for the most part everyone gets along really well and it is a fun and inspiring environment to work in. Being around student is always fun, but Phoenix does offer a lot of staff events and other things to keep the ir employees motivated.

    Cons

There is not a lot of room for growth. The other issue is that a lot of their campuses are closing so you do not really have job security.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer more opportunities to grow within the company.

I have been working at University of Phoenix

    Pros

Easy Job. The management is flexible with timeoff policy. The company looks out for employee wellbeing. Good working conditions for employees.

    Cons

Very little if any opportunity for growth. Very bad hiring practices and nepotism. Professional development is not available to local technicians.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide growth to the local Campus Technologists. Provide a path where they can move up to locally rather then moving to the main center in Arizona.

I worked at University of Phoenix

    Pros

100% Associates, Bachelors or Masters Degree tuition reimbursement to attend at University of Phoenix, regular catered food, no pre-employment drug screening.

    Cons

"Pride", horrible pay scale, little to no room for advancement, incompetent managers/leadership who also continue to hire incompetent employees and wonder why nothing works, budget is never done right leaving only money for "Enrollment" (sales reps) and extravagant marketing campaigns. Bottom line isn't the student and their educational achievements.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire the incompetent managers before they bring you down anymore or simply train them.
