I have been working at University of Texas at El Paso part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

This is a great job for current university students. You gain valuable skills and it opens up a lot of job opportunities for the future. Easily the best experience I have had as a college student.

    Cons

The labs are badly managed as many university labs are and the equipment is not always the most up to date.

I worked at University of Texas at El Paso part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I was a student employee so it was great for me to have a chance to have a job while studying. The compensation wasn't that great, however it's great if you have this as some extra cash and not your primary source of income.

    Cons

Minimum wage and I found some training unnecessary. However, these might be good for younger people, I think I only found them tedious because I was older than the average peer leader.

I have been working at University of Texas at El Paso part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great team to work with and supervisors are very flexible with your schedule. Great to learn professional skills and a small feel of the real world dealing with so many customers.

    Cons

Not a lot of room for growth. Most of the employees have to leave once they graduate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create more opportunities for graduating professionals.

I worked at University of Texas at El Paso part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

If you are student at UTEP and work for the university it is possible you may have your own office and desktop computer. This makes studying and doing homework on campus very conveinant. There are other perks to working for the University liek having after hours buidling access and a set of keys. This comes in handy for those late night projects you have been working on all semester.

    Cons

If you work for the university you may start to feel like you live on Campus. That's just life though if your a student. Another downside to student employment is that there are no benefits and the pay is really low.

I worked at University of Texas at El Paso part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The job is on campus, which makes it really easy to work and take classes without the need of driving. Also, jobs inside UTEP are respectful of their student's class schedule.

    Cons

The pay is not competitive with other off-campus options. Also, really few choices to eat healthy around campus, so you should bring your own lunch.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In order to get or find a job inside campus, is usually by referral. And many capable students are left outside of the 'circle'. Maybe a UTEP only career fair would be a good idea!
