there are nice people out there, secure job, helping people, safe city, world known programs, famous co-op alumni,

    Cons

    Pros

Relaxed. Great job for students. Great way to stay around campus all summer.

    Cons

Lead hands are very lazy. My lead hand basically took all of his vacation days while we were there and we did all of his work.

    Advice to Management

Keep your lead hands more accountable, there are many more things going on than you are aware of.

    Pros

The largest benefit is the casual and comfortable workplace environment. It is very easy going. Also, it is on campus so is close to student life and student workers can easily connect with their colleagues.

    Cons

The company's (WatPD) intentions are good, but their execution to achieve their goal of helping students to develop professional skills needs work. Also, most of the time, students act as markers and mark assignments most of the time

    Advice to Management

Some of the more senior level workers were great to work with and understanding. However, there were some that were not as enjoyable to work with. The success of an employee here is largely affected by who their supervisor is.

    Pros

Getting into the university on a perm contract, if you can.

    Cons

Very repetitive, not enough work, very strict working conditions, very controlling work environment, very hard to learn new skills in order to develop, stale atmosphere/culture, no positive feedback from management.

    Advice to Management

Create a more positive work environment where employees are given positive feedback and constructive criticism.

    Pros

I worked as a laboratory technician, supervising the daily lab activities, maintaining the equipment and the cell lines. This job allowed me to gain working experience while learning new techniques in a friendly and supportive environment. Dr Spafford has a way of encouraging and inspiring the members of his lab without putting unnecessary pressure on them. Working in the research can be frustrating and challenging at times but overall this was a rewarding experience

    Cons

This it was a 6 month contruct and now I am on the market again, looking for something a little more long term. The salary could be higher.
