    Pros

Fun job, get to learn on the job, very flexible around your schedule.

    Cons

Can be tedious. Must be a detail oriented person or your mounts won't turn out.

    Advice to Management

None. I loved my job and would recommend it for anyone. It's a great part-time job for students looking to make a few extra bucks, learn more about botany and taxonomy, and learn new skills.

I have been working at University of Wisconsin full-time

    Pros

Used to be a mecca in the Midwest for academics seeking an opportunity to make a real contribution in their field.

    Cons

State funding, shared governance, even possibly tenure fading, possibly to near nothingness. I would not recommend applying for a job here, nor would I send my children.

    Pros

Management works with hectic student schedule and friendly staff. Location is ideal for a student worker.

    Cons

Very little organization, poor training, incompetent management. Difficult working with such a large staff with zero consistency in how they were trained.

    Advice to Management

Hire new management. Retrain entire staff. Rebrand entire operation.

I have been working at University of Wisconsin full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Generally, the research funding is good, and most device you need is available. You can arrange your own time.

    Cons

The salary is low, and the research pressure is intense. The field is very competitive, and you have to be quick. So many people works day and night.

    Advice to Management

The management should recruit less peoole, and figure out what kind of people they really want. There is no person who knows everything.

I worked at University of Wisconsin

    Pros

Good experience for recent college grads. Benefits are great but the pay is lacking. Usually a good group of people to work with.

    Cons

Management in certain areas are oblivious to the daily activities. Too busy fighting with each other to try to gain more power for their own departments

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what is actually going on. Treat your staff with respect, compensate employees accordingly and get rid of the excessive amount of dead weight,

    Pros

Great benefits (healthcare, retirement matching, and vacation) but slightly eroded over the past decade.

    Cons

Pay for certain positions does not keep up with increases in cost of living. Processing a raise in the bureaucracy can be like pulling teeth sometimes.

    Advice to Management

Hold the benefits or increase salary but if either go in the wrong direction without the other improving, not many people will want to work here anymore even if you call yourself a world class institution.
