Pros
Colleagues and there are some exceptional people managers.

They do have great benefits, but they're changing their health insurance group in January so I don't know how similar it will be. They promised they would be the same, but that could just be corporate jargon

I've been there 4 months now and my experience has been largely negative. From everyone I've talked to, I seem to be the exception to the average though. My background check came back with a felony, and HR wasn't very nice about believing it was a case of mistaken identity- which it obviously was. I've also had two managers in the first 3 months I was there, and neither one gave me much feedback or development. Now I'm about to get a third manager, and feel even more thrown to the winds. I'm trying to stick it out my 18 months to transfer to another position. The company's great, just don't expect much support.
Pros
They care about their employees more than any company I have ever seen. They never hesistate to praise your hard work. The company places alot of focus on retaining and developing employees. Benefit package is really great as well as their STD benefits

I have so many meetings some times I feel I can't get my work done!

Keep up the good work!

1. salary; 2. health insurance; 3. ease of training; 4. peers; 5. tuition reimbursement; 5. 401k; 6. vision and dental.
Cons
mundane. repetitive tasks. little lateral movement. the claimants (nag..nag..nag..nag). working at least 45-50 hours a week, but getting paid for 40. little recognition.
Advice to Senior Management
No advice at this time. It falls on deaf ears. work environment surveys are meaningless; any negative reviews are either rationalized away or they change people's mind.

When promoting look to promote employees with experience and good job performance not just for a degree.

Work enviornment survey's are a waste of time, everyone is too scared to be 'candid'

Great Benefits, strong financial position
Cons
Management doesn't really want to hear "the truth:" Project estimates, pace of projects and ever-changing "rule of the day" are always in constant conflict due to weak leadership. Employees are over-worked, stressed out with low morale.
Advice to Senior Management
New blood (management) and new ideas are necessary in order for this company to grow beyond its stagnant state of affairs in IT. New employees with honed skills are being hired, but just "don't fit in" to the culture of "that's the way it's always been done." It's an organized mess!

Incompetent management, deceptive promotion practices, bizarre decisions and decision processes, lack of focus on customer value.
Advice to Senior Management
Hold your managers at all levels accountable for value creation, eliminate the cronyism rampant in the Portland, Maine location, and start actually making changes identified by employees in the work environment surveys instead of talking about it. If you don't change you can enjoy the sight of your best and brightest moving on to better job opportunities. I know I did.
