Former Employee – worked at Unwired Planet
Pros – Niche space, strong legacy, good work life balance, had options to work from home while meeting your goals
Cons – No real innovation, bad execution, inefficient R&D, no sense of direction/strategy from upper management
Advice to Senior Management – cannot outsource your core strengths and need to do a much better job at execution while hiring more capable business managers. If they screw up, then the company is bound to go downhill.

Former Employee – worked at Unwired Planet
Pros – Some interesting work and challenges, good salary and benefits. Some good people.
Cons – very demanding customer base, employee burnout, long hours, company shrinking, long history of upper level management churn, though more stable last couple of years. Large amount of engineering outsourced; problematic. IMHO will continue to struggle and decline. Very little employee training or general education other than product-specific.
Advice to Senior Management – yadayada
