Pros – - the company works with some of the best leaders in the world
- always at the leading edge of technology
- fast paced, never a dull moment
- lots of career growth opportunities
Cons – - fast paced means there's never a down time (would be nice to have some down time)
- if you are in the professional services group, there is travel involved
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to listen to your staff - you have done a great job in adapting and we encourage you to never stop listening

Former Employee – worked at Upside Software full-time for less than a year
Pros – Met some great people, and still maintain relationships with them
Cons – Management by intimidation. 12-14 hour days ar the expectation, and underpaid.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Upside Software full-time for more than a year
Pros – Upside/Sciquest has been listed as selling a Global #1 CLM product, the Edmonton location is stellar for transportation, shopping, and dining. No employee has ever had a problem finding new employment in the city with Upside listed on their resume.
Cons – This job is the workhorse of the company, build every custom application, test every dev release ,because we have no QA department, handle dev bugs internally, report to 5-10 different managers. Overtime policy, hostile work environment, over-managed , under-resourced, vaporware.
Advice to Senior Management – Under-promise, over deliver is your motto, stop doing the opposite to your employees!

Current Employee – been working at Upside Software
Pros – Lots of high profile clients
Because of the incompetence of management in Professional Services you may find you have lots of autonomy.
Cons – Compensation is inadequate.
CEO is invisible
Lack of vision and execution by management.
Office space is very drab
Meeting rooms are poorly equipped
Upside tries hard to be a top 50 employer but turnover is very high so something is wrong.
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to your employees.

Pros – Opportunities to learn are plenty
Some smart people
Cons – Low salaries
Zero opportunities for growth
Undervalued employees
If you are not liked, for whatever reason, migh as well leave before you get fired
Specialized in hiring minorities (mainly asians) so they can pay them minimum wage
Mistreatment of anyone who disagress on anything
In summary, abusive behaviour to people that just want to grow and leave a positive footprint
Advice to Senior Management – Learn to be people

Pros – - fast paced, energetic and true leader in technology
- friendly staff, eager to help and excellent benefits package
- Very friendly for those with families (e.g. child subsidy, etc.)
- Love the free breakfast program
Cons – - Salary reviews are only done annually (would be nice if they were done twice a year)

Current Employee – been working at Upside Software
Pros – Nobody cares anymore.
Some good people work there.
Cons – Senior management are a bunch of crooked losers. Steal commissions from salesmen.
VP and one of the directors are drunks.
CEO only gives promotions to his college buddies (regardless of incompetence or lack of professionalism).
Your directors and managers will almost certainly bash you behind your back to other employees.
Director of development will bash virtuallly anyone to anyone willing to listen.
Pay is below industry standards.
Equipment is below industry standards.
Advice to Senior Management – Don't believe all those awards the CEO purchased. They are all lies.
Financial Post et al should be ashamed of themselves, biggest sham ever.
Employees are miserable at this place.

Current Employee – been working at Upside Software
Pros – If you have no experience than you can get it here and than go somewhere better because this place does not pay good.
Cons – This place does not pay well and managers do not respect you. They think they know better than you even if they dont and they will ask you to work overtime for free.
Advice to Senior Management – Pay your staff more and stop lieing to them about how good Upside is because everyone knows the truth about sweatshop.
