    I worked at Urbanspoon full-time

    Pros

Fun, food oriented, close knit culture. Keela Robinson was a strong, dynamic and talented CEO.

    Cons

Lack of investment from IAC made it difficult to compete with Yelp

I worked at Urbanspoon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pretty small and tight knit company. Lot of freedom(slowly disappearing) You can interact with everybody and know them by name and what they do. Compensation is decent, industry standard.

    Cons

None of the original founders are around, not even the second wave. Tyrant form of leadership, with latest changes its more of we say - you do. Ask couldn't do nothing original in their company but wants to reform Urbanspoon. No stock plan or bonus structures.

I have been working at Urbanspoon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Unlimited vacation policy; fun and quirky group of people; you get to talk about food and dining all day long. Urbanspoon is small enough that you get to know everyone who works there, but is backed by a larger company so you have the resources to get things done.

    Cons

The product is outdated and it feels like all of the competitors just keep passing us by.

    Advice to Management

As the company grows, don't lose the flexibility and work-life balance that makes it such an accommodating place to work.

    Pros

Fun Staff, great facilities. IAC was generous with its in office treats. Company had good internal resources for things needed.

    Cons

The general mission of the company was confusing and no real leadership existed or was ever passed down from ever changing execs.

    Pros

"Start-up" culture that was backed by a successful parent company

    Cons

Since their acquisition by Ask.com, the business model was altered and subsequently all sales reps were laid-off with a 2 minute notice.

I worked at Urbanspoon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Relaxed atmosphere Freedom to perform your job the way you see fit High salaries Full benefits Stable company backed by a billion dollar company

    Cons

Constant fear of losing your job. You are forced to sign an at will contract and I have seen people fired without a reason. I was constantly watching every action of mine to ensure I never gave them a reason to let me go. It worked until they decided to get a new parent company and they just let everyone go without a reason. I have seen top performing sales reps let go because they just weren't liked that much. I have seen people forced out and let go for absolutely no reason. It's a scary place to be

    Advice to Management

Provide a more stable environment for employees

I have been working at Urbanspoon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great atmosphere, great leadership, fantastic growth potential - Directors really listen to the concerns of reps and to the customers. They all want to succeed

    Cons

Urbanspoon goes head to head with Opentable that has the biggest penetration in many markets. This is not really a con - this is a great place for reps that love a challenge and see the vision
