    Cons

In some respects, does a poor job on HR side - particularly in the training of Junior level associates and managers.

    Advice to Management

Focus on training of entry level and junior management.

    Pros

In general, this company cares about its employees. Of course, actual application of this overall commitment by executive management varies by department. For a large company, though, employee satisfaction is quite high. Salaries are very competitive and loyalty is strong.

    Cons

VF is very fiscally conservative and is reluctant to spend on back office systems and staff additions, despite the need expressed by departments in those fields.

    Advice to Management

Many VF employees love VF. They go out of their way to be loyal and wouldn't want to work elsewhere. IT and HR, in particular, are hurting for more staff, but they are not heard. Look beyond executive and upper management in those areas for a more realistic viewpoint.

    Pros

Pay isn't the best, but other benefits are good - 401K, profit-sharing, monthly social hour, great campus with cafe on the bay, daily lunchtime fitness classes, including yoga, bootcamp, pilates. Outdoor and health-oriented culture emphasizes ecological sustainability. Annual review process, where employees first create their own goals for the year and then are graded on those goals. Executive team is open and friendly. Corporate professional training program, where employees can choose from 2-4 classes each month if interested.

    Cons

You HAVE to have an MBA to move up in the organization, especially above the manager level. The company will help you pay for it. Professional mentoring/coaching is not available. Although they are committed to creating a work environment that is free of gender bias, there are few female execs outside of HR. (not that this is uncommon in any large corporation) As a public company, pleasing shareholders is paramount. Review process often feels more like a pat on the head than a real examination of progress. Turnover is high across the organization - probably because people can't move up internally. Although a work-life balance is encouraged, employees frequently work 10+ hour days, and weekend work is not unusual.

    Advice to Management

Anyone in a manger position or above should be paired with a coach/mentor. Those expressing interest in moving up need a concerted effort that defines a path - probably something that is managed by HR as opposed to individually tailored. (e.g. create a set of classes for managers to take, or directors, etc)

    Pros

Good compensation package, helpful HR staff

    Cons

1-VF Services is an isolated IT department of VF Corporation and has an unpleasant working environment and culture in comparison to main office
2-Management emphasizes on work and life balance but reality is exactly opposite. Almost non of the management team members care about LIFE. It's all about numbers and project measures..
3-Physical office place is horrible and completely outdated and nobody cares about that.

    Advice to Management

Please pay attention to all aspect of employees (of VF Services) not only projects and time lines. Happy employees' productivity is higher than sad and constantly under pressure machine-like staff specially in IT.
