    Great organization, no benefits

    State Service Officer (Current Employee)

ProsGreat place for veterans to work and help other veterans. Staff have genuine concern for veterans well-being and work extremely hard to take care of our vets.

ConsUpper management has no idea what they are doing on the state level, but still care a lot about veterans. High turn-around as Group health insurance is way too expensive for even a single person. Don't even think about getting the group insurance if you have family.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake a hard look at the benefits and figure out why we can't keep decent employees.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

    No opportunity to excel

Bartender Karaoke KJ (Former Employee) Daleville, AL

ProsThe best thing about working at the VFW, was the opportunity to serve the men and women who fought for our country.

ConsMy Post (6020, Daleville, AL) stopped paying their employees and went to strictly "Volunteer" only, and then business went south.

Advice to Senior ManagementLead by example, and have the back of your employees no matter what. Nothing good comes from gossip!

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Comradeship

Adjutant - Lifetime Member (Current Employee) Manchester, NH

ProsGreat organization in order to continue the communication feed as you once had in the military - still have to filter it out though - as before

ConsVery political in the States, seems like the same 20% of the men/women perform the Post duties...

I loved this job because we did alot for the retired veterans and also with the active military.

Canteen Manager (Former Employee) Clarksville, TN

ProsThere are many activites we do for kids on holidays, as well as special needs dances. We also have dinners for our members to show them how much we apprieciate them.

ConsA lot of people would say that its a "Adult Daycare". And I would have to agree at some degree. But its manageable.

Advice to Senior ManagementI was the manager there. So to the HIGHER up, would be the membership on this conncern of a higher salary needed.
