Pros
Flexibility
Collaborative work environment
Competitive pay
Cons
Too focused on government contracts
Pros
Upon looking at the history of Viack (as with any growing company), it has had its obstacles and challenges. However, with the re-vamp of the internal corporate culture and the new CEO's forward-thinking mentality, Viack appears to be making a comeback.
Solid financial backing, competitive product, and second to none customer support are just some of the key reasons why Viack will survive where most new companies won't.
Leadership is human instead of always thinking of the bottomline. Reasonable consideration for all requests for work life balance is a definite plus.
Look for Viack to making headlines again soon.
Cons
Because of the mixture of past and present attitudes and experiences from all the changes and growing pains, internal corporate culture will require constant adjustment until the new CEO completely settles in.
The brand and name is relatively unknown which poses to be one of the biggest hurdles that Viack will have to overcome. That may cause some uncertainty while working at Viack.
Advice to Senior Management
Be stronger about promoting Viack's presence in its marketplace as this will instill more confidence and boost morale within its employees.
Pros
Had some fun intelligent people, with a passion for product and the technology. A little like a 1990's dot-com company trapped in a time warp. Good times.
Cons
When bankrupt in 2008, treading water today,
Hard to believe the new management team seems to be less capable than the pre-bankruptcy management. New CEO seems erratic and unprofessional. Difficult to image him raising any new funds to keep the company afloat much longer. What rock was he found under? The first time he arrived at the office, I assumed he was a bum looking for a hand-out.
Technology not cutting edge any longer
Several serious IP claims against Viack (from several big players in the space)
Customers not happy with support or product stability
Cluttered marketing message (changes with the tides)
Not honest with employees, nor customers
Advice to Senior Management
Find a buyer for the technology; although this boat has probably already sailed.
If all else fails, try and monitize the current customers. Perhaps try some of the companies currently looking to sue Viack.
Stop fooling yourselves.
Pros
Lots of smart developers to work with. Lots of interesting technical challenges. The culture encouraged flexible hours and working from home. Within Engineering, goals were clear and attainable.
Cons
Business Development folks didn't really know who was going to buy the product or why. Hiring process for the Sales team was erratic.
Advice to Senior Management
.Feedback to Sr. Management is moot since the company is almost bankrupt. Investors lost the will to fund a company with little revenue. The company was failing to meet any business objectives in the Federal gov't space, yet senior management did nothing to acknowledge the failure or analyse the problem.
