    Pros

I havent been working for Vitas very long but i have been a nurse for a very long time. I am truly amazed at the lengths my manager has gone for me. All the managers truly have our back and i promise i have been watching. Everyone is kind and helpful for whatever i need....The actual job is harder than i thought but more tewarding than i could have imagined.

    Cons

There are a couple of things that bother me. First off i have never had such poor health ins in my life! If i had the money up front i wouldnt need ins.!!!! And the driving, and driving with relatively no mileage compensation....

    Advice to Management

Please please look into better ins. As health care workers we should have the cream of the crop!!!

    Pros

Great co-workers, work is rewarding, great pay and benefits, excellent pto, free ceu's via inservices.

    Cons

Large Case-loads along with On-call hours have high potential to cause burn-out and increased safety risks due to sleep depravation, high stress levels etc. Raises have been frozen for years at a time. Documentation still completed on paper-forms.

    Advice to Management

Management: Listen to your front line (i.e. team RNs, SWs, CNAs, Chaplains), before making any sweeping policy changes. They offer the best intel! Happy employees equate to higher retention and more beans for you to count and put into your pockets!

    Pros

    Focus on patients and families

    Cons

Benefits package is very poor, Medical deductible $5000 for a family.

    Advice to Management

Conduct employee satisfaction surveys, pay adequately. Slow salary growth, no wage analysis in over 10 years, no cost of living increases.

    Pros

Patients ALWAYS first General Manager made sure we all knew that. Good support from team. Good team doctor. Training kept improving from when I first started. Had a computer for medical record that we liked and had updated patient records. Overall great place to work. BUT

    Cons

Pay is not good. Benefits keep getting cut. Staff keep leaving because pay is so low and benefits cut each year. To hard to stay with to many nurses leaving

    Advice to Management

    Raise pay and benefits

    Pros

RN staff are nice and helpful to patients. They truly want the best.

    Cons

Sales Management is not continuously trained nationally and each office works very differently. No idea how to effectively manage a sales team; managers created low team moral and unhelpful. Withheld important information to new sales team members, such as serious previous patient care errors. Did not disclose upfront they were under investigation by the DOJ. Sales Management did not live by patients come first motto. Awful benefits and low pay for job expectations.

    Advice to Management

National management training needed and a national review of management to weed out the bad apples.

    Pros

If you work in after-hours in the Telecare department your co-workers are nicer than those in the admissions department.

    Cons

The management style is terrible. The customer service directors of the admission department have been known to fire employees in public settings and call the cops on said employees to escort them off the premises. They also lack diversity. Like, out of the entire San Diego office of 500 employees -- they only have 5 black people on staff.

    Advice to Management

It's unprofessional to fire employees in a public setting in front of the entire call center. It's even more unprofessional not to reprimand the director of customer service for calling the 9-11 to escort an employee of premises b/c they undermined your authority. Also, there was an additional occurrence where they publicly fired a black nurse. And, then had the corporate office poll the 5 black members on a staff payroll of 500 if they felt that the individual's termination was racist.
