Cons – HR Department is political and lacks professionalism at IC level

Advice to Senior Management – Take a good look in the mirror and see if you can see a person extremely biased by your emotional, self serving view of the world

Former Employee – worked at VMC Consulting
Pros – VMC had the ability to collect some highly talented engineers to work with.
Cons – Inadequate communication between management levels. Lack of trust by lower level employees due to early mismanagement.
Advice to Senior Management – Set up an independant review of the organization. Problems were reported frequently but never made it past lower levels of management.

Former Employee – worked at VMC Consulting
Pros – Ability to move between projects
Diversity of Work
Some managers are very cool
Cons – Hard to know what management wants
Not able to meet deadlines or timelines
No/Little accountability - killing the messenger
Advice to Senior Management – Fire the weak managers - get back to basics, become the best consulting house in Seattle and clean everyone's clock. VMC is a company with amazing potential, but much of it is wasted and under utilized.

Current Employee – been working at VMC Consulting
Pros – Flexible hours, relaxed work atmosphere, friendly people. Middle and low-level management is doing their best to keep the employees happy.
Cons – Incompetent senior management; the company is run by the sales people who only care about their commissions, not about what's good for the company. Extremely high turnover; most of the employees don't stay over a year - either get terminated or get burned out and leave - it's a 'body mill'.
Advice to Senior Management – Take a look at the corporate culture and try to realize that not every problem can be solved by hiring and firing left and right. Unless the culture change and you start actually care about people who work for you, the company will always be regarded at as a bullpen.

Former Employee – worked at VMC Consulting full-time for more than a year
Pros – Consulting arm of one of the largest staffing companies. They have a huge presence in Microsoft.
Cons – If you are placed at a client location, you may not not get to know VMC at all. Compensation seems to be a little below par but on the other chances of getting a project are higher
– I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at VMC Consulting
Pros – Large consulting firm means that they manage many varied contracts (especially ones at Microsoft)
For the most part, if you want nothing to do with VMC and want to go by your day to day work, you are able to (almost 0 mandatory meetings with reps if your customer is happy, few reasons to ever visit the VMC office besides hardware or HR issues)
Cons – The cut they take out of your contract is much higher than Seimens, Insight Global, or Murphy and Associates (from personal experience)
Business information and contract specifics are almost never exposed (you never know what your contract is actually worth)
Harsh practices on employees that share compensation information with each other, especially on the same team or org
Terrible web portals that must be used for payroll information, direct deposit, weekly timecards (slow to load, often error, work only in outdated versions of IE, etc)
Advice to Senior Management – Try to let your employees know their place. That you see them as valued members of a family and are more open about budgets, contracts, promotions, or that you really feel they are simply cogs in a larger machine and can easily be dropped.

Current Employee – been working at VMC Consulting
Pros – Lets you work with the customer to satisfy their needs, gives you autonomy if you want it, the managers I've dealt with are friendly.
Cons – Very little communication from the company, no chance of promotion, lacks any true benefits, the pay is subpar, the only time I interact with VMC is when I receive my check.
Advice to Senior Management – Try to build a better atmosphere of communication in the company. Try to retain talented staff by offering better pay and benefits. Give the employees better tools and training to do their job and improve.
