Pros
The teams in Mississauga were amazing. Excellent communication, and world class team work. Employees that cared, and understood what it took to provide excellent customer service.
Cons
Executive management did not handle the business properly to retain our talented staff.
Advice to Senior Management
Think long term, not about next quarter's bonus.
Pros
Pros
Fairly relaxed work environment
Good for Canadian newcomers and College dropouts in need to add technical skills
Most of the time friendly; senior support engineers willing to help
Cons
Cons
Senior management absent, 'busy' or simply clueless most of the time.
Tech leaders lost their tech 'grasp' long ago, so they were mostly non-responsive or dismissive.
Low wages, that were been reduced at every new hiring batch.
Poor management lost multiple lines of business overtime until the Microsoft support contract wasn't renewed; all Microsoft support engineers were terminated in January/2008
Raises of 2 cents per hour were given to people like me after been 'promoted' to Premier support. Benefits were terrible, no vacation days.
Pay for performance bonus was introduced and distributed clearly favoring 'management friends' and older employees, no performance criteria was actually used.
Advice to Senior Management
Thanks for almost nothing.
Pros
The people in Support roles and midddle managment. The growth that occured.
Cons
Senior management were clueless. Decisions were made based on their own personal bonuses. Poor management lost multiple lines of business due to greed and put an entire site of 500 people in jeopardy.
Employees were lied to, payroll made multiple mistakes. Raises of 20 cents per hour were given to people like me after working my tail off for their customer big blue. Benifits were terrible, no vacation days - senior managment always made sure they remind us that we could be replaced at their whim and we had no value. We had to bring in our paper and pens!! No photocopy machine for a 500 person site. They introduced a pay for performance bonus and then wouldnt pay the top people but people that had left the company months prior were getting cheques.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your people and don’t promote people that are not qualified. One person was a recruiter and promoted to Managing Director, Worldwide Service Delivery. How does that happen?
Pros
The amount of Knowledge you gain is great. VMC has contracts with large professional organizations, and train you on their platforms. They are good for the knowledge you obtain, but with it comes a rough journey.
Cons
The way employees are treated. The company is concerned about their overall profit. For example - requesting a note-pad & pen takes weeks, and requires approval from upper management.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on the business, and not your own pockets. VMC has great potential if they change their views. They are focused on profits - as any company should be, but at the expense of the staff. The staff doesn't get treated with the respect, and is not provided all the necessary tools to do the job.
