    Pros

Flexible work schedule, good benefits, great on boarding
New hire training is very good. Great product overviews and use cases. The paperwork process can be slow getting all the accounts but looks like everything accounted for within a week.

    Cons

Sales process seems to be going through a transition -- probably better but time will tell

    Advice to Management

Very value oriented culture, stick with it. Great job making new employees feel welcome.

    Pros

It was excellent and my Director Mr. Mike Koclanes was a wonderful Manager and above all a good humanbeing. He always encourage people of his team to give ideas

    Cons

Challenges are one has to come out with ideas out of the box from the normal routines. In IT everyday one has to face challenges.

    Advice to Management

It is good if the people resources can be utilized else where rather than laying off if a particular department project ran out of Budget or scrapped totally.

    Pros

    - benefits
    - culture (EPIC2)
    - company events (beer bashes, guest speakers, guest artists, off the grid, etc.)
    - gorgeous campus
    - great and intelligent people
    - disruptive technology

    Cons

In terms of the company, there is NO professional development and growth what so ever. It is promoted, but never actioned. From my experience, I have applied for several internal positions, but was treated like an external individual trying to get into the company. No common courtesy for internal employees with the exception of one time. If VMware does not act quickly, employee retention will be very minimal. There is already high turnover in my department because of this.

As for my department, it is not aligned with VMware's EPIC2 values. No transparency, no work/life balance, no integrity, no sense of community, no trust and no flexibility. For the amount of stress and long hours that came with the role, the pay should compensate for that. The commute is tough so I wish there were more opportunities to work remote than once a month.

    Advice to Management

Get to know your team, be transparent, and stop the politics. Saying one thing and doing another can be deceiving as well as upsetting. Ensure the department is align with the company's values. Understand the workload each individual is trying to juggle instead of continually piling more onto them; leads to stress and anxiety. Be more flexible with work/life balance especially for those who are continuing their education and/or have families.

    Pros

Company Culture is amazing as it values it's employees integrity above all else. Their EPIC2 values are really followed and practiced by all in the company. Amazing compensation, benefits, and perks. I have never seen a company care so much about it's people. Their cloud, automation, and and big data tools and software suites are extremely impressive. The SDDC (Software Defined Data Center) is coming in a big way thanks to VMware. I can see VMware doubling in market value in the next 5 years. I have been at VMware for less than a year.

    Cons

I have no cons for working at VMware.

    Advice to Management

Keep innovating and increasing market share! Also, keep being the great employee friendly employer that you are today and have been.

    Pros

    - Beautiful campus (Palo Alto)
    - Smart, dedicated staff
    - On the forefront of cloud technology
    - In the heart of the Silicon Valley

    Cons

    - Transition from product to services is technically and organizationally difficult
    - Loss of quality senior management staff
    - Unexpected rounds of silent layoffs
    - Complex, global work environment. Hard to manage the time and needs differences between the various centers around the world. Can lead to a non-stop work week.

    Advice to Management

Need a consistent senior management team that can actually work together for the betterment of the whole suite, not just individual products.
Hiring lately seems to tilt toward outdated, outmode styles of management.
