I have been working at VMware full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Many perks, cubicles, not open space sheet, others, also some fitness, fresh juices, etc. I do not know about carrier path and eventual promotions yet. What else? 20 words minimum? Am I a science fiction writer or what?

    Cons

big company, some noise, not a big deal though, I do not see real options for remote working from home.

I have been working at VMware full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Salary package and work life balance

    Cons

Career Opportunities for engineers. In the management vertical the career growth is much faster than the R&D

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk more to low level employees thus to receive their feedback and take actions to satisfy their needs.

    Pros

Good colleagues, good process as a whole, interesting virtual technologies, can learn a lot for virtual infrastructure and how to administrate it

    Cons

Bad management, people are not valued- they are just resources, no honest feedback for your work, no support to develop your skills, bad product planning reflecting in bad test planning

I have been working at VMware full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    * There are still some awesome people in the Sofia office
    * Very flexible working conditions (though I hear there's a general push to eliminate this point)
    * Interesting projects to work on and the right equipment to do so
    * Renumeration and benefits are good

    Cons

    * Total disrespect of common sense from various management authorities both local and in HQ. Some "administrativa" sneaky tactics and some arm twisting can also to be expected.
    * Stacked ratings! God help you if you were foolish enough not to keep a "scapegoat" around for the time your team's ticket gets picked in the so called performance evaluations. You may get kicked out even if you were just promoted.
    * "Quality doesn't matter. Reporting does." Management seems to not care whether the estimates you give them are accurate. Neither if you'd do the job pro forma, leaving someone else to pick up the trash behind you. In any case you'd better to adhere to their metrics and do whatever needed to meet the target number of bugs/test cases/pass-fail ratio/whatever. Dirty tricks allowed.
    * Ventilation system in the office is a joke. Once 80% (or so) of the capacity of a floor is reached it gets awfully difficult to make through a whole day and maintain your focus. Chronic headache is to be expected. If caught it it, please try not to drive on your way back - blackouts and momentary loss of concentration can occur and that's bound to get you in an accident. Trust me on this one!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    * You can't have an all-star staff. People are not bricks to swap around. They have individualities.
    * You can't keep throwing people out indefinitely. Theory might say that's a good way to keep the company in top condition. Reality is - Sofia labor market isn't that big and qualified candidates aren't a bottomless well.
    * Procedures and policies are a necessity for a big organization. Knowing when all this is not enough and a burden is what makes a manager good IMHO.
    * All above is pointless since a) the "management" won't be reading it, and b) even if "management" miraculously happens to read it, it'd hardly make even a joke for them...

I have been working at VMware full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Work with very smart and motivated people.
The managers are all very good at technical level.
    Good compensation.
    Smart people are valued.

    Cons

As many other big enterprise companies the processes are hurting productivity of the employees.
Some time the politics is too much and can be sensed at the lower ranks.
