Former Employee – worked at VOA Associates full-time
Pros – Most of the people you work with on a daily basis are very talented and are willing to work hard to get the job done.
Cons – Middle/upper management has difficulties. Central office policies conflict with outlying offices.
Advice to Senior Management – Examine people in mid/upper management positions-find the ones that don't know what they are doing, get rid of them.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at VOA Associates
Pros – Good starting place for a career out of school
Cons – No defined growth paths for anyone. Evident nepotism, as Partners hire their own unqualified family members for growth.
Advice to Senior Management – Loosing great talent is not the best way to foster a competitive firm.

Current Employee – been working at VOA Associates
Pros – Decent benefits, work hours are good for the industry (8:30-5:30),depending on the office a passion for design
Cons – old school architecture firm management style (i.e. Midwestern, boys club mentality-little diversity in composition or thought in upper management)
poor communication from management on staffing and project budget
reviews are arbitrary and pay raises minimal
Advice to Senior Management – Allow junior and intermediate staff to have more project responsibilities so that the can improve their design and business skills.
