A simple 9-5...nothing more.

Customer Service Representative (Current Employee)
San Francisco, CA

I have been working at VWR International full-time for more than 10 years

Pros- They've provided a steady job for a number of years.
- They've provided a steady job for a number of years.
- They've provided a steady job for a number of years.
- 401k match

Cons- Employee perks... there are none.
- Employee recognition... there are none.
- Employee raises... there are none.
- Managers placed in positions they have no knowledge in...there are plenty.
- Opportunities for advancement... not many.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit being cheap and spend more money on your employees. Recognize and reward them for their hard efforts. Quit putting people into positions they have no clue about...just for the sake of saving their jobs. Though a valiant effort, it's useless if they don't know what they're doing, and everyone else suffers.

It's a job.

Sales Representative (Current Employee)

I have been working at VWR International full-time for more than 5 years

ProsThe ability to create your own schedule and be in charge of your relationships with customers

Great working and learning environment.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Brisbane, CA

I worked at VWR International full-time for more than 10 years

ProsThe office had a great family vibe. Co-workers were willing to answer any questions you had that would help with your job performance. Great opportunities for growth with or within the business that the company dealt with.

ConsThere unfortunately had favoritism, when it came to promotions. The office where I worked has been closed, but the warehouse is relocating to Visalia, California.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep business decisions business and not personal.

Stable company but very political

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Radnor, PA

I worked at VWR International

Prosthe industry is extremely stable - this is a cash cow - every 5 or so years a private equity will buy it, milk it and sell it...
nice work environment at headquarters (not at DCs)
access to gym
free fruit

Consvery political with silos ( at least in NA, not sure how Europe is)
low pay (i am not sure how you can try to recruit talent by underpaying people)

if you want to be in a company where you just want to "get by" by doing a mediocre job for 20+ years... this is your place... i think it is both a good and a bad sign when you see employees who have been doing the same job for 20,30 years... the good is because you know that they are in a safe and stable company... the bad is because most of them have been doing the same job for years and years without thinking twice about trying to improve and change things in the organization.

Advice to Senior ManagementThink about bringing in fresh people who are willing to change and improve things. Also, try to have the different groups within the organization talk more.

Numerous Manager Changes

Los Angeles, CA

I have been working at VWR International

ProsSalary Fair Benefits are decent

ConsToo many changes in Managers. Worked at VWR for 3 years and had 7 managers

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep the managers in one place before switching them to different positions or letting them switch. Maybe make it a year mandatory before they can decide to switch to a different position.
