I worked at VWR International as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

The office has a very wholesome vibe. Health is valued there; workouts a the company gym are encouraged and there's free fruit on site daily. (The cafeteria is really good too.) The people are smart and talented and friendly.

    Cons

It can be hard to find mentors, people who will nurture you. Sometimes it feels a bit cliquish.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at VWR International full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Beautiful headquarters, a lot of great, fair coworkers and middle managers, ability to sometimes work from home (at managers' discretion), not as high pressure as some environments.

    Cons

Lowball salaries, low to nonexistent raises, frequent hiring freezes, difficult to move up unless you're great at networking. Even if you move up, HR policies often prevent you from getting the salary bump you would expect. Frequent restructuring makes you often scared for your job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work to retain talent. Incentivize them to stay and make them feel safe.

I have been working at VWR International full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Company really values employees as people, not just workers. They also believe in promoting from within the ranks. Good opportunity for people who work hard. Most of the Sales Managers I have worked with throughout my 8+ years are really great coaches, great people.

    Cons

Compensation for sales reps blows. Base salary in the 30's and 40's... are you kidding me? Also, the Senior management team seems deflated. Annual meeting message was kinda like "meh, we had a tough year. meh, we could get sold. meh, probably not. oh and go team!" Very lackluster

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

PAY BETTER... we might keep some of our reps this way. Also, drink some of your own kool-aid...man, you guys were flat during ASC.
