I have been working at VWR International full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Minimal supervision. You're expected to know and do your job without a lot of interference. Basically, you're not bothered unless you fall below a set metric.

    Cons

Elitist company. Associates are not paid based on merit so you have people performing basic level tasks at a high rate of pay and people performing high level tasks at a low rate of pay. Having a degree is gold in this company. It doesn't matter if the degree is relevant to your position. Even a degree such as an Associates in culinary or fine arts will trump 10 years or more of experience and a proven track record of knowledge and capability. A lot a office politics in advancement. Unrealistic expectations in performance due to increasingly unattainable metrics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your top performers and make this a place they want to stay. You're losing talented and dedicated people with unfair compensation for the job done and promoting people based on office politics rather than who can actually do the job best.

I have been working at VWR International

    Pros

Nice office it has a gym on site that is easy to use nice cafeteria and the work is easily handled once you know what you're doing.

    Cons

The company has lots of turnover in the upper ranks. It takes a long time to move up a lot of lateral movement pay isn't that great and sometimes the work isn't challenging enough

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try and promote from within there is a lot of talent that is walking out the door because people don't feel they can get anywhere

I worked at VWR International full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Large variety of work. Minimal oversight. Flexible schedule.

    Cons

Poor on boarding process with little relevant training. Poor support from management. Poor distribution of work load. Very low annual pay increases.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managers need to be held more accountable for the success of their employees. They should be more of a presence in the workplace and function in a more supportive role, rather than an authority figure that only appears when there are problems.
