    Pros

    Exciting industry.
    Some decent free swag.
    Coffee and Soda machine.
    Commiserating with certain fellow employees.

    Cons

Low compensation. It’s well below market, and the benefits don’t make up for it. You can get more anywhere else, and often this means your coworkers are not the most capable.

Unreasonable workload and expectations, high employee turnover is a mainstay.

Constant meetings, 1-on-1s, group activities and unnecessary added distractions from the high workload.

Surprisingly few people at Broomfield actually ski/ride, so it's not the culture you might think. Many folks plan to or "want to" but weekends are too difficult, and taking days off means you have to catch up on tons of work and missed meetings.

Crowded, loud, cramped cubicles. Traffic on the commute continues to increase.

Many initiatives (e.g., Flexible time off vs Paid time off, Pro-rating merit increases, Approach to minimum wage increases) are done to save money, and presented under the guise of doing the right thing or industry-leader thinking. Stock price soars as employees get none of it, low pay, limited bonuses and pay opportunities.
    This place is a joke.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate employees on the quality of their work, rather than the amount of teamwork solicited, or heart-to-heart talks over coffee they’ve had along the way. Focus on reasonable and practical expectations, instead of immeasurable, fabricated value gained from talking about personality traits and Insight colors. Stop wasting so much time and money playing games and creating so many teamwork activities.

Ease up on all the discussion and judgment about behavior and mindset of employees.
The amount of scrutiny becomes overbearing, and it’s unprofessional. It’s supposed to be a workplace, not a center for psychological evaluations.

Place less emphasis on Performance Management and Evaluations. They are too long, drawn out and far-fetched, it’s overkill and counterproductive.

Start acting like it’s a business and not a circus, and you might see some people actually stick around. Although, the company doesn’t really care about that anyway.

    Pros

operating a cat had its moments of greatness, spectacular views and scenery, get to do something very unique and job could be very fun at times, but like all jobs at the end of the day it feels like work...

    Cons

low pay, hard to get a parking spot just to get to work...
The feeling I got was (it's a privilege to work at Vail) although this feeling didn't come from anyone I directly worked with...
Because it was a 'privilege to work at Vail' that entitled them to put a low value on their employees and compensate them at a bare minimum...
Job would be better suited for a retiree, someone that was already established and didn't need to earn a livable income...

    Advice to Management

it's your show, run it how you want
I'm sure you've heard enough about the things people don't like...

    Pros

Great people. Lovely town summer and winter. Staff across many departments agree that change needs to happen regarding pay.

    Cons

As a fully qualified ski instructor I make less than 17% of the fee that Vail charges my clients to ski with me! You can forget my hourly rate or the joke ($10) minimum wage. Pay people their fair share for the work They do!

    Advice to Management

Stick to what you believe in. Don't be brain washed by your bosses. Keep up the positive relationships with your staff.

    Pros

Professional and customer focused with great working colleagues in the main. The work is seasonal and typical of any ski resort but they try hard within constraints of making money in a tough industry.

    Cons

Pay is lousy and so the turnover reflects that. Old timers get priority for lessons and the middle management is patchy.

    Advice to Management

Improve day to day line management's people skills rather their skiing prowess
