I have been working at Valencia College part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good work environment and good pay rate for type of school job in Orlando.

    Cons

The max hours is limited to 25 hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please consider offering more work hours to tutors because 25 hours is far too short.

I have been working at Valencia College part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Steady work.
    Great co-workers.
    Good pay.
    Fulfilling job.

I have a great boss who does not make my job any harder than it has to be.

    Cons

    Terrible administration.
    No room for improvement.
Professors get preferred treatment over staff.
    Some professors are overtly egotistical.

I had bad experiences with professors making ridiculous demands that I should not be responsible for. When I expected the administration to protect me, they will always side with their full-time faculty.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat everyone fairly. Your staff is the backbone of your company.

I have been working at Valencia College part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Excellent staff, a very family feeling environment. It is ons of the best colleges in the US.

    Cons

Older building infrastructure. Does not have great food in cafeteria. It is hard to get a full time staff position. Sometimes you need to figure out your own curriculum with not a lot of resources.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Help adjunct instructors get better organized with coaching.

I have been working at Valencia College part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Valencia is a good place to teach. they will teach you and you will have free online or face to face classes that will help you to refine your teaching skills.

    Cons

You should never expect to get a full time there or to be consider for a position. They rarely open a position and when they do, they rather to hired outsiders (at least in my department).

I have been working at Valencia College full-time

    Pros

Great people to work with, good benefits

    Cons

Way too many required hours. Most places I know require teaching only 3 or 4 classes for full time and it's 6 at Valencia. Definitely more than 35 hours per week after it's all said and done.

    Recommends
    Positive Outlook
