    Pros

Mark Norberg was the best teacher of influence I've ever had. He boiled it down and applied it himself, refined it over time and thought it to me in no time. The money I earned was fair (I even forgot to cash a paycheck once and they tracked it down months later and replaced it -- I never knew I lost it!). However, the most value I got from Valient was a "mindset to influence" and that's still paying off. The people actually running the place know what they're doing and that's why they don't need you to tell them. There is a program and you just need to plug-in and go. Or go.

    Cons

The business is quite complicated and very competitive. This variety makes the inside sales job much more stimulating than you'll find in 90% of places. However, it still requires that you are in an office all day and can maintain focus among all the interesting things to learn and create.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I wouldn't have a Christmas party. It's offensive to trees.

    Pros

Base pay is about on par with other inside sales roles in the Denver region and once established commissions can be fairly sizable.

    Cons

A family business with little advancement opportunity unless your blood or marry in. The Special treatment to family seemed to belittle others in the workplace. As a family founded, owned ,and operated organization they of course should run there business as they please, and they seem to have found a system that brings in enough revenue to make it all worthwhile. That's good because its unlikely they'll ever deviate. I don't recommend trying to suggest any changes or doing it "your way". Just read their script just like its written (as if a nine year old wrote it) and accept the 9 out of 10 hangups that result as well as the rude reception you will receive from the hotel owners and their various family members who you will be calling repeatedly to sell, "pretty much everything for hotels".. Granted hotel owners, primarily the Patel and Bhakta's families are unique business people- cheap, skeptical, and relentless when in comes to getting better pricing, and the theory employed by Valiant to go in with the cheapest product first, makes good sense for that market, but there are numerous areas for improvements related to their processes and treatment of clients they could benefit from . But as the saying goes, you cant teach an old dog new tricks, and 50 years in business I suppose does earn them the right to be stubborn, even if they don't know what's best for em.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Explore new ideas, listen to the talent you hire, grow, modernize, acknowledge the business intelligence outside of your tiny brick building in the hood.

Bad training, horrible management and Junior High School atmosphere

    Pros

Nice base salary, fellow employees were nice

    Cons

There is no training to speak of, the management is 100 percent unqualified and nepotism runs rampant. They have no HR department and the person who does handle HR issues is unqualified and is also a relative of management so you have nobody to turn to if you feel like you are being treated unfairly. It takes 2 months to get paid and the margins are razor thin. They also take every chance they get to take things away from the employee, often times they take commission away claiming extra freight costs. It is a company that counts on high turnover since once salespeople realize what is really going on they leave. Don't waste your time here, it is a job full of unqualified management and insanely tense working conditions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some training, realize that there is such a thing as work life balance and break up the management club or you will continue to get beaten by your competitors.

    Pros

a good learning ground, it develops self confidence as well as personality. it will make you a better employee and individual in general.

    Cons

sometimes it is frustrating especially if you will not be able to reach your quota, the cashier is quite in efficient but the higher management trust the person.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

sometimes they have to do some review with the performance of their people especially those people they trust so much.

    Pros

The people there are very nice, and extremely accepting of everyone.
The compensation for most employees is results driven, providing a limitless amount of money you can make.
There is lots of room for advancement within the company, as many of the managers were at one time entry level employees.
Management provides a high level of guidance and help towards the success of individual employees.
The job is challenging, which helps make work less boring and mundane.

    Cons

The atmosphere is very negative. There are so many negative people there, and the building is very dreary.
There is very little employee recognition, no perks, and the "parties" or "social gatherings" leave much to be desired. Morale is low, and nothing is done to boost it.
The industry is difficult, making positive results harder to come by.
Getting the company to change a direction, or move forward new ideas is sometimes hard or impossible to do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the negative people, they bring everyone else down.
Do more to boost morale, perhaps with more perks, employee recognition, better benefits, Christmas parties, better rewards for success, spruce up the building to make it more modern and inviting.
