I have been working at Vallarta Supermarkets part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

pros are it's a clean environment with hard honest work

    Cons

the cons are I work at the vallarta in lancaster Ca off if ave I. The management is ridiculous. They are bias, and pick favorites. and desperately need to take scheduling classes. The work schedules are described as random at best. One day you can be working a night shift the next day a mid day shift and the next a morning shift. I have a family and a kid that needs me to make.to.school. I spend more.money on a baby sitter than I make sometimes because the unpredictable schedule. Managers excuse is. The schedules have always.been this way. I think managers should learn to be a manager not a discipliner

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

LEARN HOW TO MAKE SCHEDULES!!! CONSISTENTLY... especially.the schedule makers at the vallarta in lancaster off.ave i

I have been working at Vallarta Supermarkets part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

You get experience working with many different people and learn new things along with your training that would be useful later. Their are not many benefits, I am a part time worker and you just get minimum wage or a slight raise if you get promoted to a department above courtesy clerk. Their are benefits for full time employees, paid vacation, health insurance, etc.

    Cons

Sometimes I feel it is a very large load of work for someone, it seems to be with my store and department only. I work in bakery but often I see double the employees on various shifts at different locations. I believe my department manager chooses to hire less people to profit even further, but I honestly don't know why this is. I feel the pay could be better, it is only .50 cents above minimum wage, I understand its average but Ive been working here for a year and seen more growth in wage at other employers with some of my friends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

work-life balance is great, I am a student and go to school too, and my managers are very flexible with my school schedule. There have been problems before when I'm set to work and have class the same time, but I just let my manager know as soon as I see the problem and my schedule is fixed according to my school schedule. I also have asked for some personal days off, it is fairly easy to get them as well. But I am reasonable in how much I ask. Training for me was done in 1 day for courtesy clerk, I got promoted in 3 weeks to bakery and training was on the job their. I believe their is a good chance for personal growth for people who stay with the company, department managers can earn roughly from about 40k-90k depending on experience and how well the department performs in sales. My sales directors are great they handle situations perfectly, and make sure they please every customer while providing excellent customer service.

    Pros

None. Some individuals I met were really nice. Besides that nothing.

    Cons

Everything. Worst job in terms of culture, pay and benefits. Made some false promises during the hiring process. Management/ownership has huge trust issues and they treat their employees like children. During my loooong year at this company I became physically sick due to stress. Patricia, the owners daughter, is a tyrant at this place and is a very nasty person. Offices are located in a very undesirable area. ALL professionals must avoid this place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respect your employees and treat them well.
