    I worked at Valmont Industries

    Pros

The company culture is great and management is generally quite ethical. There's a real employees are family feeling. Excellent subsidized cafeteria at the Valley site.

    Cons

The Valley site is pretty isolated, although not far from Omaha. There is a bit of a glass ceiling for women in management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Preserve the culture that founder, Robert B. Daugherty, established and Valmont will remain a great place to work into the future.

I worked at Valmont Industries full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Very large corporation with emphasis on growth and new business development.

    Cons

With large size comes a disconnect in values, from main structure as the accumulate other companies and try to integrate their culture into other cultures. There is often hostility as the Valmont way is integrated. Often times the goals are moving targets at the whims of executives at behest of what is deemed shareholders expectations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Valmont Industries

    Pros

This is a big company that is a leader in most or all of its market segments but still has the feel of a small company.

    Cons

Valmont would be well served to open communication with all employees. Most of the tightly held communication gets around as rumors anyway.

    Pros

opertunity to progress in welding certs. and pay and benefits are good

    Cons

when improvements are to be made the engineers take charge instead of the people that work with the equipment, supervision dosnt listn

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

leadership needs to listen to men on the job floor and take into consideration what they recomend because they deal with the equipment daily, favoratism has alot of pull in the shops. its who you know not what you know

    I worked at Valmont Industries

    Pros

The work atmosphere is excellent. The benefits that are offered to the employees are very good, including the health insurance, 401K options, Payflex availability. The attendance policy is easy to follow.

    Cons

There is some lack of communication between top management and employees which leads to uncertainty as to job stability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the employees informed as to changes that will be affecting them. This will help to eliminate the desire for good employees to look elsewhere for a career.

I have been working at Valmont Industries full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Short commute. Benefits are good including nice tuition reimbursement, prescription drug insurance, and participation in Healthcare spending account. Training is available but you have to seek it out on your own.

    Cons

No room for advancement. There is no longer a sense of community or teamwork. It is a constant demand of do more with less and be sure you cover your backside. First step to solve a problem seems to be to assign blame.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat people with respect. Shop employees have a wealth on knowledge you are just wasting.
