A prestigious and professional company that takes pride in its work. This company stands well behind it's training.

I worked at Valor Security Services full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Valor has offices and sections all over the United States. It is one of the leading companies in officer training in all areas of security. As a new officer you are not released on your own without going through rigorous training scenarios, and evaluations. You also have monthly training check ups.

    Cons

Depending on the Location there is not mush room for upward movement. Depending on location work environment can be needlessly hostile, (not the company but the patrons.)

    Pros

If you get a good director, the company is wonderful to work for

    Cons

Disregard for employee well-being with regards to scheduling, has a policy of docking hours from payweek in order to avoid overtime if you are called in on your day off, serious lack of training oversight

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Inspect your RVPs more. Work on seeing your line officers as human beings.

I have been working at Valor Security Services full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pay is above average for entry level security position. Advancement options. Good work atmosphere. Most coworkers are team players. Overall a pretty simple job. Command staff legitimately cares about the officers.

    Cons

Lack of communication between command staff and officers. Outdated equipment. Not a long term job. Benefits are expensive for very little coverage. 1% yearly raises. Mall management micromanages security to the point of excess.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More organization. By stricter on officers, multiple write-ups is unacceptable.

I worked at Valor Security Services part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You can possibly be CPR certified through the company if they allow it. You work for a few dollars above minimum wage.

    Cons

Unprofessional management, only interested in bar code scanning for a living, no actual security work, Supervisors get all the work of the Director and Asst. Director shoved on them if they are competent without the adequate pay. The hours are never fixed and change depending on the whims of management. (So be liked by the boss)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start providing some real security and stop penny pinching the employees.

I have been working at Valor Security Services full-time

    Pros

-At my location the pay is better than most other security I've seen.
-Direct deposit and a consistent paycheck
-Valor supplies your shirt, pants, and gear

    Cons

    -No room for advancement
    -No respect for employees
-Benefits, vacation, and raises are a joke; worst insurance policies I've ever seen.
-You're basically expected to be an unarmed, significantly lower paid cop
    -Training is a joke
-Too political in advancement and the workplace environment.
-I was literally told I couldn't move up to a better shift that was available because of my ethnicity

Former Employee - Security Supervisor in Dublin, OH

I worked at Valor Security Services full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Steady pay check that's it. Training is to easy most of the test questions can be answered with all the above.

    Cons

Worked at a location on Tuttle Crossing Blvd in Dublin Ohio for 10 years at this location I have seen in house security the security company IPC and now Valor. After Valor took over quality of the security staff has gone down hill. Quality of equipment has gone down hill pepper spray was over 4 years old. most of the radio equipment never worked properly. I worked as a supervisor for Valor for over 5 years. I just recently got fired for trumped up bogus charges after working at this location for 10 years it all started on 9-20-2012 I reported an employee that was bringing a fire arm to work with no conceal carry permit. Employees were using bar code cheat sheets for detex scan locations. I kept on getting my vehicle vandalized 5-18-2013 passenger side of vehicle had a fist dent on it. 6-16-2013 key marks on drivers side door. 11-2-2013 windshield was scratched by an unknown substance. 4-30-2014 after getting my cars damage repaired on 5-2-2014 my car was damaged again on the drivers side while parked at work location. Police reports done on all. If you plan on working for Valor stay an officer when you are a supervisor there is no advancement and you walk around with a target on your back that is how I felt at this location. If you see Valor taking over your property it's time to leave. When I left all my shirts were turning brown and ripping away at the pockets. I only had 1 pair of pants and they had holes in them. Mobile unit they wanted officers to use had no Air Conditioning.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper Management needs to check site equipment better. Valor seems to hire Bullies for Directors. No regard for officer safety. Officers get confused what they can or can not do training says one thing site location expects another. Human Resources department is a joke if you go to them about anything expect to get retaliation from your superiors. Management only cares about anything until it affects their pay check. Management at the location I worked at only hire their buddies or hire people related to some one in law enforcement to try to further their Managments law enforcement endeavors.
