    Pros

Very secure job, with excellent pension. Excellent for graduate posts, earning nearly 30k straight away, and around 40k immediately when qualified with RICS or IRRV. Good flexible working hours and reasonable work-life balance.

    Cons

Occasional pressure, but that's the minimum with any job.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Valuation Office Agency full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits, flexi time, variety of commercial property.

    Cons

Type of work unsatisfying, pay, development opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Massive retention problems so give surveyors greater variety of work.

I worked at Valuation Office Agency full-time

    Pros

The work done here has real impact on the everyday lives of people. If you fit in you have some chance of progression. The days of promoting people just on time served is gone and the VOA has now joined rest of civil service on merit based promotions. It's the Civil service, therefore the organisation offers good flexible working arrangements and some people get laptops to work from home.

    Cons

Everything is treated with suspicion. Some professional people are very arrogant. Internal progression is perceiced to be very slow or unlikely for most people, good people get overlooked and therefore become demotivated. Some people take the biscuit.

    Advice to Management

Junior staff are disgruntled and have been treated unfairly in some cases. They need to be heard. Address the unfairness - some people work too hard and others get away with doing very little.
