I have been working at Vantiv full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The company gives an excellent amount of PTO from day one. I haven't heard of another company offering new employees so much time off at hire date. Very relaxed culture and was very family oriented. Several employees have been with the company for at least 7+ years.

    Cons

The pay is on the extremely low side of the industry. The company wants management to do more with less, so people are working more with very little pay. That makes it hard to get a good employees to work for you. You get what you pay for. Since NPC merged with Vantiv, it has become more corporate and less family oriented. It's like the focus was lost and now there's no direction.

    Advice to Management

Stop telling employees to take their issues to their direct supervisors because the supervisors know nothing about the direction the company is heading and cannot provide much support to their employees. Pay your current employees better. Stop operating the company in silos.

    Cons

In a period of transition, but the upside definitely outweighs it. Stress like any other job.

    Advice to Management

Embrace Agile quickly. Invest more in the change.

I have been working at Vantiv full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great peer to peer communication and friendships. Teammates are collaborative and want to do the right thing. Community outreach is strong with opportunities to help local organizations.

    Cons

Management is constantly changing directions and unsure of how to accomplish business goals. No collaboration or transparency from the top down. There is a new "direction motto" each year that is not clearly articulated, but all are expected to tout it like a badge of honor. Ones position is always in question because upper management motivation is unknown and fickle: one year, major talent cuts are made with years and years of experience "thrown out the window" for the sake of "better talent" being sought through offshore initiatives... and then within a year, the same management structure is gutted and replaced and a whole new direction introduced, having no way to replace or recover the massive amount of talent loss.

I have been working at Vantiv full-time

    Pros

Big company, great opportunity for simplistic Data Science solutions that allow to save another cent on transactions or make a simple ad-hoc estimates for managers to help attracting new customers. If you are happy with simple stuff, or you are able to come up with a sophisticated new data-based product, and you can prove that the potential revenue for this product will be better than simply romancing with another big customer, and you are able to explain this not just to your manager, but a few managers of your manager scattered across the country, then it is your place.

    Cons

The company is growing vary fast, and not always keeps promises acquiring partners. The numbers (e.g. revenue) is more important than the people. The management is the first priority, and those who does real work are on the background. Many managers for technology related work do not have the corresponding technology background.

    Advice to Management

Company has "talent care" among the priorities , but needs more real examples to support that statement., especially if the "talent" is doing work, not just planning it.

I worked at Vantiv full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

good industry, some good coworkers, good size, good city, somewhat diverse, no parking costs, decent cafe, fast paced, lots of change

    Cons

The company has had so many acquisitions and if you're in Cincinnati you're at the bottom on the totem pole. My old department in particular has horrible leadership brought in from First Data and Litle and Mercury, and they don't even TALK to the existing talent, they think they are superior and don't want to be challenged. There are many smart, experienced, well liked, well respected workers who are producing excellent work and going out of their way to help others and they are not given ANY attention. Ignored. Not even a hi at the water cooler, let alone working to understand talents and skills. There is no devotion to actually leading teams and improving and investing in people, it is all a dictatorship. There is no cooperation. There is no resolution. Problems are just compounded because everyone is out for themselves and pointing fingers instead of trying to band together. There is no conversation and certainly no honesty. And there's lots of childish complaining by people in charge. The company is getting a horrible rap among great talent and I believe the company is already suffering from people who don't want to come work for it. It will come around to bite them. Cincinnati has a ton of great companies in my field, and this one isn't one of them anymore.

    Advice to Management

Fire your conceited, childish, selfish, unmotivating, unresponsive, unproductive and elitist VPs of BS and keep your honest, caring, hardworking, well respecting and TALENTED producers who want to be there and need their careers. Don't "structure out" people you DON'T EVEN KNOW. Talent is God given; be humble. Fame is man-given; be grateful. Conceit is self-given; be careful. – John Wooden

    I worked at Vantiv full-time

    Pros

Generous PTO, nice facility, some team members who genuinely wanted to help you learn the ropes.

    Cons

Operations group upper management team were always unavailable and didn't have time to mentor their team. You had to be a part of the "good old boys/girls club" to get any attention. They only had time for you if they needed something from you. Lots of promises made, but none of them kept. Hiring was done to fill a seat, not to bring the right person for the job in, probably due to low wage offered. Supervisors were not well managed and some not well qualified, which let to dysfunctional teams. Unrealistic expectations and little support for what was expected. Promises made to customers that upper management knew could not be fulfilled. Overall, it was survival of the fittest, well, at least until you realized you were going nowhere in the operations group, so you either moved to another department or left the company.

    Advice to Management

Get a clue, Stop spending all your time figuring out how to CYA and use that time to work with your teams members and supervisors to develop a strong team who can deliver what you promise your customers. If you are going to outsource the work, then outsource it all rather than doing it in bits and pieces and pretending like nothing is changing.
