    Pros

The benefits seem to be okay, if you can get off of work to use them.

    Cons

The call center needs to be revamped. They want you to be empathetic to patients but treat you like crap.

    Advice to Management

You need to get rid of all of the supervisors and the head nurse and start again.

    Pros

The physical building is very nice.

    Cons

    Workload is unmanageable
Office environment is dysfunctional and there is a huge lack of trust.
Registrar is in the office less than 25 hours a week and when there clips coupons, chats up the other office staff and is basically lazy. Commits fraud with reporting working 40 hours a week, but never does. Management turns a blind eye.

    Advice to Management

Allow employees to anonymously give feedback of supervisors and then act on problems with management.

    Pros

Excellent management, room for growth either with the Health System or the University side

    Cons

Employees who've been there for 15,20, or 30+ years unwilling to keep up with technology and/or expectations of management can drag down an entire department.
Low pay, which is hit pretty hard if you also have to drive to work and pay for parking.

    Pros

You can't beat VCUHS's benefits. Leadership is doing great things to develop a patient/employee focused culture. 18 credits per year given after 1 year. Further education is encouraged, and training is always evolving. I have worked there for 8 years in administrative/customer service roles. Advancement is encouraged if you're willing to work and prove yourself.

    Cons

Not many. I've enjoyed working here.

  9. Wonderful hospital, unfocused and confused financial side

    Pros

You can do some actual good for patients. Great, unusual cases that you will never run into anywhere else. Extremely complex charts. Doctors who live up to the high standard of care, and care while doing it.

    Cons

They respond to outside forces with glacial speed. Unfortunately, that's not the speed at which modern American healthcare works. Far too hierarchical and too many silos.

    Advice to Management

Try researching new plans or programs to see who you need before setting those programs up and throwing money at them.

    Pros

The health insurance is inexpensive. The education assistance is a plus.

    Cons

The organization as a whole doesn't seem to care about retaining employees. The compensation is way below market value.

    Pros

    Love the flexibility with hours
    Great feedback from management

    Cons

The system is so big sometimes you can feel lost and like a number

    Advice to Management

Communicate more with the front line staff, they impact the customer service ratings more than anyone else and that is the bottom dollar.
