Authorized Dealer

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Vector Security for more than 5 years

ProsPaid on time usually.
Free paperwork and signs.
Nice logo.

ConsThey do not care about the customers. All about the money. Upper management speaks to you like you're an idiot that knows nothing. Serious favoritism for bigger dealers. Again all about the money and power trips with big undeserved titles. Promotes deceptive practices if if makes the vp of dealer program more money because it's all about the money. Customers are treated like idiots.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet a new vp of dealer program that cares about the dealers (even the smaller ones) and the customers.

– I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Employees were wonderful, management not so much

Data Entry Clerk (Former Employee)
Richmond, VA

I worked at Vector Security full-time for more than a year

ProsThe friendly environment and casual fridays

ConsThe lack of communication between departments

Advice to Senior ManagementDetermine a solution to something first and then explain it to the employees, not just wait until they run into the problem and have to come ask what to do

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Good to start, then took a turn for the bad.

Field Service Technician (Former Employee)
Columbia, MD

I worked at Vector Security full-time for more than 5 years

ProsIt was a great company to start with, nice hours, nice pay.

ConsA shift in management came, and everything went down hill. We had sales guys ride around us during our service calls, making it awkward for the customer as I am trying to fix something, the salesman is bothering the customer. Then being micromanaged, and everything you did correctly for 6 years was now incorrect. You correct the action and then nitpick something else. Just stay away from this company.

You are faceless person in a greed company

Field Service Technician (Former Employee)
West Pittsburg, PA

I worked at Vector Security full-time for more than a year

ProsNone that I can think of

ConsBottom Line driven; nepotism, big company mentality; doesn't care about customers AT ALL. Employees are dispensable.

Advice to Senior ManagementSecurity and caring to employees (although you won't get this statement). Get rid of the DEAD WOOD managers - too bad you won't know who they are since you have them as your pets.

Not great at all....

Supervisor/Dispatch Center (Former Employee)
Pittsburgh, PA

I worked at Vector Security full-time for more than 5 years

ProsNothing that I can think of...

ConsPretty much everything the one reviewer said. I guess nothing has changed at all since I left in 2010. I was there almost 6 years. I was a supervisor that treated employess fairly. Management did not like that one bit. The other supervisors and managers were too involved with their 'titles' and email signatures to run anything right.

Not a great company to work for.

Dispatch Operator (Former Employee)
Pittsburgh, PA

I worked at Vector Security full-time for less than a year

ProsSteady pay check and on time pay.

ConsManagement never listened to employees. They would constantly change rules to fit their own needs even if it meant making it harder on the employee. The supervisors played favorites. During down time employees are not allowed to read or do anything. You just have to sit at your desk in front of the computer for twelve hour shifts. The have on call shifts. When I got hired I was told it rarely happens but that was a fat lie. I got an on call shift once every month to month and a half. With on call shifts they call you two hours before you are supposed to work and inform you that you have to come in. You on call shift last a whole week. So it is impossible to plan anything. There is no room for advancement at this company. The health benefits were atrocious. They have a high turn over rate and thus always have overtime. People call off all the time.

Advice to Senior ManagementRespect your employees

I have been working at Vector Security part-time for more than a year

Pros- Decent pay for no experience
- Company is greatly expanding

- Management is very easy to talk to

Cons- High turnover rate (not enough employees to handle work efficiently)
- Hours are not flexible
- When changing hours or moving to part-time, it can be a long process
- On-call weeks regularly and as a consequence
- Pay is low for amount and type of work being done
