    The best Power Point wins!

I worked at Veeder-Root Company full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Excellent training and execution of the "Danaher Business System" which drives manufacturing excellence. Managers are allowed to make decisions and get things done... mostly.

    Cons

Senior management spends 9 months a year working on strategy for the following year and 3 months executing that strategy. One company mantra is "The Best Team Wins" but I found that it was the best PowerPoint that wins.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Shift emphasis from strat plan to execution.

Not as connected as it should be.

I worked at Veeder-Root Company (less than an year)

    Pros

There is much room for progress and if you are motivated then your zeal can help see much change. Substantial room for movement upward within company and in finding a different position for which you are happier.

    Cons

The corporate umbrella within Danaher limits funding and does not afford the neceesary tools for the job. Depending on the division co-workers can be underpreforming and are not repremanded creating a sluggish feeling. New projecets are very slow to be approved and begun.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Support engineering and manufacturing with up-to-date standard equipment.

    Cons

No work life balance. High pressure. People climbing the ladder. Lack of management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Focus. Too many pointless kaizens.

I have been working at Veeder-Root Company

    Pros

This was a dismal place to work until they "topgraded" out some useless senior executives in 2011. Shifting our problems to some other poor Danaher division have improved the attitudes and direction at V-R tremendously. Compensation is fair, benefits are nothing to brag about. Co-workers are generally okay.

    Cons

Being part of Danaher means you cannot always focus on your job but are forced to spend time with Danaher Business System paperwork. Some of it is useful, but most of it is a tribute to the idea that one management method suits all companies. Grin and ignore it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keeping weeding out the management losers. We don't where you send them, but send them quickly and permanently out of this place.
