I worked at Verathon full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Some bright people
    Niche technologies
    Backing of a major corporation

    Cons

    Work/life balance does not exist
Schedule is the only thing that matters; not quality, employees or "doing the right thing"
For a 29-year old company there are major gaps in corporate structure including Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Marketing

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Turning Verathon into "a platform for future acquisitions leveraging the talented management team" does not require the hatchet job currently being carried out by "talented" management. The rate of attrition is staggering and the end result will be the continued loss of bright, dedicated, long-term employees.

    Pros

Nice atmosphere with pretty decent benefits

    Cons

Parent company has been making drastic changes causing confusion and chaos

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to the customers needs. They will take their business elsewhere if no one can answer their call or fix their broken units for weeks.

    Pros

Great people to work with in the trenches, good products and support from team.

    Cons

Upper management is on a lean/six sigma warpath which is disrupting daily operations and creating fear among the employees.

I have been working at Verathon full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Verathon's culture is laid back internally with a very friendly environment, there are a many great people that work there. They offer pretty decent benefits and recently increased the PTO for their employee's.

    Cons

Constant Change in Customer Care Department, Lack of concern regarding customer's coming first, new management and supervisors, no direction! Parent company has come on board and started reorganizing the company, lots of change going on at the moment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on your Customer Care department, you are losing valuable people with lot's of great knowledge! Too much change all at once create's chaos.

    I worked at Verathon

    Pros

Very successful company in the medical industry with great benefits, and work life balance.

    Cons

As a compnay that started in the creators garage, it has grown beyond its capacity, and old ways of doing things don't work when a company gets this big. Since they have been bought by Roper, they are finally getting the support and standardization they need.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take the time to learn how to manage a larger organization.

    I worked at Verathon

    Pros

Nice, pleasant human resources department. Great reception coming in to the company's front door. Most employees seem pleasant. Corporate product training good.

    Cons

Management not supportive with required job information specifics. Training is disorganized and feedback not given. Passive-aggressive employee tolerance; subtle friction between various levels of management. Suggestions treated with ambiguity and ambivalence.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to re-learn and utilize good human resource practices. Organize job responsibilities and put them in writing so employees don't have to guess what they are supposed to do - lack of creates longer learning curve. Stop making it uncomfortable for employees to feel comfortable. Upper management should "practice what they preach."

I have been working at Verathon

    Pros

Good benefits, free lunch every month, very diverse work environment from the factory floor to the offices. Paid training and education.

    Cons

The company is pretty flat and has grown way to big for it's britches. It needs consulting help to deal with old way things were done from a company of 30 to the way things need to be run in a company of 3500.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take the time out to re-evaluate the way things are being done. It is time to work smarter, not harder.
