    Working at Verax

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsI am a long time employee at Verax and in my opinion it has grown and succeeded due to the following:
    • Great management team who understands IT consulting and looks after their employees
            and clients.
    • No politics, open door approach to management.
    • Community-based support culture that is always available for help.
    • Excellent Client/Account relationships that make my engagements easier.
This has given me the opportunity to work on many interesting and challenging projects, allowing me, not only to learn new things, but also grow my career.
The experience and attitude of my fellow consultants has made working at Verax enjoyable and satisfying.
Besides being compensated fairly, Verax offers great company events (training, team, family and client)

ConsVerax has experienced some growing pains, however has managed them appropriately.
Being a consulting firm you spend a great amount of time at the client site and need to move to different location, on occasion you are also disconnected from VERAX

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Low skilled Body Shop that doesnt care about you

    Software Developer (Former Employee)
    Toronto (Australia)

Pros-client was nice and treated me well

Cons-it is just a body shop (like job agency), they only care about placing someone at an open spot and have them stay as long as possible so they can make money
-THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU, once you get placed, it's just like dont bother me
-Upper management requires that you joke around and suck up to them, this is not a company for hard core coders, if not they will hate you
-The culture is tell him/her what they want to hear. they will tell you whatever you want to hear and actions is different than talk
-Not a technical company and when you get placed at a corporate firm, you have to deal with politics without being sheltered
    -No coding for a developer
-they will send you to clients that are really far away from you
-I dont think there are alot of smart people at this company, just guys who knows how to play the game
-They dont care about a career path for you and will ignore all your requests and proceed with their "business needs"
-you dont learn anything technical at all
-i doubt the good review on this company is real, probably forged

    My opinion about Verax

    Consultant (Current Employee)
    Toronto, ON (Canada)

Pros-If you are a senior hand or you like to learn more things, join verax
-Good pay. I had offer from the client companies of this verax before joining but none matched their package
-Amazing Senior team. Even the CEO cares to know each and every individual and conducts lunch and activities to know his employees. I have great opinion about the VP. He knows people and he is a man of values and principles
-Here I didnt see any back stabbing n "pulling legs" as usual, here people work together for the company
-Yes, I didnt join here because I had no option, but I chose to join when I saw the management
-Also heard, during recession people were not laid off. Well, I know companies where people were laid off ( I wasnt )!!

    ConsI like this company :)

Great experience and place to work!

    Consultant (Current Employee)

ProsI have been with Verax for over a year now and am really enjoying it! There is a very supportive structure at Verax. There is a lot of experience in the team here... this has been my first consultant position I and have been very lucky to feed off the experience of the Verax team. The projects have been really interesting too, I have had the chance to work on 4 different projects within my time here so far, and although they are all within financial... they couldn't more diverse. Some projects do have a steep learning curve, but it's nothing that some "can do" attitude and hard work can't overcome. You also get to work with many different people both from Verax and client sites.

ConsWhen on project, only get to see Verax individuals who are on same project, don't really get to see rest of Verax team as often.

The #1 in Worst Place to Work in Canada

    Project Manager (Current Employee)
    Toronto, ON (Canada)

ProsIf you have no experience or you are a new immigrant then it could be a short stay to get experience

ConsNot a consulting company. Just a body shop
Recruit people for contract work and pay them salary. Fire people as soon as the contract is complete
Very Unprofessional. Even the written policies are not followed
Never keep promises. Salary will be the only benefit you get
No training, no Bonus and no other benefits. If you complete two years and ask for training they will say now training is for those who complete three years
Will be forced to follow unethical business practices

Advice to Senior ManagementEmployees are also important not just clients. Do business in an ethical and professional way

    Toronto, ON (Canada)

Prosstay couple of year and move on as get experiance to work with different client

ConsHires new immigrants or who have lost their job with low salary which looks high as there is no other benefits like pension, yearly bonus.

They take your limited benefits and performance bonus retrospectively.

No Communication from Mgmt. , Everything is top secret.
    Lots of non-paid overtime.

Also you can see here all the comments are negative and 1 comment is excellent created by mgmt.

    Worst consulting company in Toronto

    (Current Employee)
    Toronto, ON (Canada)

ProsThe only good thing about working here is the ability to work in many client sites and build contacts. Great for people trying to get their foot in the door.

    Cons- No communication from management
    - Top secret backdoor dealings with employees
    - No review process, nothing written on paper
    - Do not get to choose what projects you work on
    - LOTS OF NON-PAID OVERTIME
    - Mediocre benefits at best
    - Treats employees like tools. Use them whenever it is appropriate.
    - No training available for career advancement
    - Peanuts for performance bonuses
    - Claims to be a "merit based company".

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat employees like people - they are your best asset.

    Glorified body shop

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

Pros- good opportunity to sharpen consulting skills

    - great parties and events for size of organization

Cons- false promises on training and other "unique" benefits
    - no career path
    - below average benefits
    - no written reviews
    - bonus is dependent on ability to increase an account as opposed to quality of work done at the client
    - secretive in dealings with employees

Advice to Senior ManagementValue your employees and be truthful in what you have to offer at the outset. If there are concerns on performance, provide early/regular feedback.
