Sell the company and move on!
Pros
Good people who work together as a team. As professionals, a group doesn't work harder.
Cons
Promotions are based on seniority and not necessarily merit. Best practices are never explored and only insiders' ideas are entertained and implemented without informed discussion. Knowledge transfer is terrible and internal training is non-existent. Management assumes 24/7 dedication from their employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Please listen to the grumblings of those in the office. Unhappiness does not encourage loyalty.
Pros
Career opportunities and advancement is a big plus. Intelligent people to work with. Good product line with established and diversified customer base. Good company culture and a company that treats its employees fairly. Competitive compensation and benefits. Can be a fun place to work
Cons
Management communication was lacking at times. Some lack of vision in planning for the future. Unwillingness at times to make tough decisions. A certain amount of 'old boys club' attitude when forming the decision making coterie in the company.
Smaller company with difficulty in penetrating large named accounts is holding back the company from really taking off. Sales leadership is somewhat lacking.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow the functional leaders to be more independent and handle their own areas. Do not allow escalation of every issue all the way to the top
Pros
Lots of exciting technologies to be involved with. Very smart engineering team to work with, and great talent.
Cons
Does not have a direction for growth, and can be very short-sighted in terms of vision. Some teams are quite overworked.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to wake up. Needs to be engaged in areas other than just immediate sales, and meeting numbers, i.e. see the bigger picture. Needs to figure out a plan for future growth, then invest, shed non-productive lines, then and observe if you are succeeding. Repeat. Can't just be be so watchful of what the investment community demands.
