Advice to Senior Management
focus on recognizing and rewarding talent, communicate and execute vision, be lean and clean
Pros
The people are the best reason to work there. The majority of them want to do a good job and help others do their jobs too. The product management team is great - responsive and working well with other departments. The company has a good product mix and a very good marketing staff to effectively promote solutions. The company has a strong OEM and reseller program.
Cons
The organizational structure is ineffective - there are some underperforming regions, and senior management does not seem concerned or able to identify root problems. In North America, sales management is not sophisticated enough to understand how resellers and OEMs increase sales. The bonus system is based on sales across all corporate divisions, which means a down year in a different division pushes down your bonus, even if your division exceeded sales targets
Advice to Senior Management
All regions should be treated equally - no favoritism to some. It deflates morale in the best performing regions and does not motivate underperforming regions to do better. Treat direct and indirect sales equally.
Pros
Interesting, not dull. New technology and good training.
Freedom from bosses spying over your shoulder.
Fun and flexible people.
Cons
High workload pressure and much unpaid overtime.
Lack of process, particularly at the preparatory (pre-sale) stages.
The company tries to "manage" it's way out of technical issues. It should be focusing on more technical resources.
Goals are very "American" where the quarterly numbers seem to take precedence over long term strategy.
Advice to Senior Management
More permanent staff in all technical areas. This is the area the company should worry less about cost and over staffing as it affects staff moral and customer satisfaction.
Associate Sales (people) with the delivery.
Management bulletins, particular global strategy have a lot of wishy-washy speak. Get to the point and have it make sense (and matter) to the grass roots.
