I have been working at Veris Consulting full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Good pay - Great health and vacation benefits - Not a lot of overtime - Not a lot of travel - There are some very good people working here - they just aren't in management

    Cons

    - Management is secretive. - CEO prone to outbursts when upset. Include profanity, name calling and public humiliation of lower level staff - President of the company is related to the CEO - Management creates high school environment (cliques, playing favorites) - Turnover is high.

I have been working at Veris Consulting full-time

    Pros

Excellent benefits, great team of very smart individuals who have started to and have built their professional careers, challenging, dynamic work. Collegial atmosphere, especially if you enjoy sports: both fantasy and co-ed work leagues. Very friendly and professional atmosphere.

    Cons

There are succession planning issues and the HR function changed completely over the last year. Trend of "breaking into market" issues and closures of offices. I'm really not sure what's going to happen to Veris.

    Advice to Management

Conduct 360-degree feedbacks going forward. Reduce employee turnover.

I have been working at Veris Consulting full-time

    Pros

Great benefits and higher salary than most firms No cubicles Rarely work overtime Relaxed working environment Great starter job

    Cons

High School atmosphere Management is related to owner Lots of pressure to attend social events and conform to firm culture High employee turnover Poor business decisions and lack of direction Unprofessional and catty VP's who enjoy making fun of their staff No HR

    Advice to Management

Be honest with your employees about the company's future and stop firing people just because one person on the management team doesn't like them.

I worked at Veris Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Veris has a young professional culture. They are a very friendly group with several events year round to socialize at. The Survey Research Group is a great place to learn program administration and management skills at from some great people.

    Cons

Position was over sold. I was expecting to work in databases and statistics but ended up working in Excel, data collection and validation. Found significant resistance to getting access to the databases and pushing forward statistical analysis work.

    Advice to Management

Management has a good business model overall, get work, do work, repeat. It would have been nice to have more flexibility in the types of work being performed to keep the job interesting.

  6. Great experience but be cautious about the future prospects of the firm

I worked at Veris Consulting full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Veris has a close-knit, family atmosphere that can make it a very enjoyable place to work. There are some very knowledgeable experts at the firm with impeccable reputations. There is an entrepreneurial spirit at the firm that makes it much less rigid than larger consultancies, while still getting to experience a similar caliber of work.

    Cons

The casual environment can lead to a lack of professionalism. There are succession planning issues. Many at the firm could be great mentors but there isn't much interest in actively developing talent (although the responsibility assigned does help)

    Advice to Management

    Think about the future.

I worked at Veris Consulting full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Give opportunities to in-house personnel for growth, even to those with no college degree.

    Cons

May decide to let you go at anytime, so if you continue to do your work you will last.

    Advice to Management

Be aware of who does the job and what they can contribute.

I have been working at Veris Consulting (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Unique firm culture, talented staff, challenging work, strong college recruiting programs and other career opportunities, firm retreat and other benefits are really fantastic.

    Cons

Opportunities are, for most part, based solely in the Washington/Northern Virginia area. Consulting schedules are better than those public accounting but still can be unpredictable in nature.

    Pros

The firm does meaningful exciting work in an environment that is both collaborative and productive. Veris Consulting is a community of great professionals that are great people as well.

    Cons

With multiple successful lines of business there are questions as to where the firm will go, and which of line of business will be the focus.

I have been working at Veris Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Unparalleled work-life balance -GREAT people -Solid Compensation -Management very respectful and genuinely interested in helping you grow as a professional -Benefits are comprehensive and personal leave is ample -Granted a lot of personal autonomy at entry level, play important role in projects, no cubicles, everyone has personal office -Tuition Reimbursement -Not overburdened with travel but do have opportunities for cool trips (Las Vegas for CES Show, other colleagues have had trips in Europe and Japan) In summary Veris is a great place to begin your career. You will be valued and respected by management and have considerable authority and ownership for the projects you work on. The people here are truly wonderful.

    Cons

    - Would be nice to have opportunities to work with more predictive analytics vs descriptive statistcs. The nature of projects is concentrated on the latter -Would be nice to gain experience working with statistical software e.g. SAS, R, or STATA. Mainly work with excel.
