    Information Technology Manager

IT Manager (Former Employee) Alpharetta, GA

ProsLarge organization with large vendor relationships. Lots of locations.

ConsPoor management at the top level. Frequent layoffs, outsourcing to overseas locations which is reducing customer service. The company is more focused on cost savings due than anything else due to rapid lowering customer prices. The wireless division is the only one that is not suffering from losses.

Advice to Senior ManagementFigure out a way to retain good engineers in the US.

Old school management style with favoritism

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Alpharetta, GA

ProsBenefits in general for a large size company

ConsToo much favoritism at the management level one of groups, you are being recognition for who you know and what you know. No benefits are worth for this kind of work environment.

Advice to Senior ManagementRefrain old timers at the management level from making decision on their own.

    You better love Telecommunictions

Telephone Account Manager (Former Employee) Alpharetta, GA

ProsBig company. You have the ability to move around when they close down your office or relocate your job. You can hide and do nothing as long as you look busy.

ConsBig company. Ant on an ant hill. Lots of passing the buck. Only a few people have the real information and they are harder to find then a needle in a haystack.

Advice to Senior ManagementWow...really? They didn't listen when I worked there...I'll save my breath.

    My Ideal Job

Graphic Designer (Current Employee) Alpharetta, GA

ProsIn my particular dept, we're not micromanaged. Our managers trust us to handle our projects and manage our schedules as we need. This is a big morale boost. I love working in a leading edge industry, and Verizon is at the front. Verizon is very professionally run, on the ball, great people to work with. I love coming to work - I don't hate Mondays here!

ConsVerizon/telecom industry... evolves at a faster pace than other industries, so it can be volutile, and at times worrisome. They have big and small layoffs almost monthly.

    Good place to work

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Alpharetta, GA

ProsBenefits are good and the area was nice. Upper management seemed disconnected from day to day activities. Overall good expericene

ConsUpper Management detached from actual operations of the department. Not many opportunities for advancement within depaertment or into other areas of the organization. Limited opportunities for cross functional training.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore open forums for employee feedback, company wide meetings a plus in order to get a pulse on the overall organization
