    Pros

-high tech challenges - learn a lot!
    -great pay and benefits
    -work with technical saavy engineers

    Cons

    -layoffs are constant
-tech teams not responsible to same goal
    -management stretched thin
-politics is driver - not quality

    Advice to Management

create more continuity in service and quality delivery - eliminate organization silos - hold all departments accountable for delivering a quality product and keeping a customer happy from initial sales contact through service delivery and post-delivery managed services by making each phase accountable to deliver on time, fully tested and professionally planned. You have outstanding employees that receive conflicting direction or inadequate facts to work with which result in a poor product and no one to blame but the lack of a well though out process provided by management - or rather, not provided.

    Pros

Excellent pay. Good benefits. Smart leadership. Innovative Industry leader. Recognizable brand. Strong credo and ethics related to business practices.

    Cons

Work life balance is off. Expected to be available on vacations and weekends. Stress related to frequent reorganization and reductions in force. Too many mergers and acquisitions.

    Advice to Management

Encourage and support a better work/life balance. Better communication related to reorganization and forced headcount reductions. Focus on core competencies and limit acquisitions and mergers as they can be overly disruptive to achieving KPIs.

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Good benefits; great working environment to include a cafeteria and a Starbucks onsite.

    Cons

    The six week training program does not match the realistic requirements of the position; sales quotas are extremely high; the sales process is too complicated with too many systems to navigate to process a sale; the sales cycle is too long and frequently results in cancellations and eventual chargebacks against commissions; high turnover; frequent firings based on production; high pressure; with unknowledgeable management;

    Advice to Management

Streamline systems; reduce quotas slightly; increase base pay; improve turn-times for implementation of solutions (poor customer service generally); reduce chargebacks against sales commissions; commit to Wire line solutions more fervently, or become a Wireless phone company exclusively.

    Pros

Its a stable company thats not running out of money anytime soon. Decent benefits for an average level employee -- just don't expect more.

    Cons

Too big, zero innovation. If your job isn't in FIOS or cellular don't expect any growth or opportunity. The Stockholm syndrome is a real thing there. Be prepared for strike duty.

    Advice to Management

Buying AOL isn't going to bring innovation to the company -- use you FIOS infrastructure and DSL footprints to launch an 'over the top' strategy for content and attack the cable companies with an unbundled TV offering. Buy Netflix.

    Pros

Verizon offers competitive market salaries and very good benefits (vacation, health, dental, vision, personal time, & sick time). Also very good company discounts.

    Cons

Verizon overworks their employees. A lot of companies are working with as few employees as possible, which is understandable but if you work for Verizon as a non-union employee you will be extremely overworked - no time for family. You will need to take vacation time just to "try" to catch up on your work. In other words you will be using your vacation (your earned benefit) to do Verizon work.

    Advice to Management

Realize that sometimes there is a such thing as too few employees. Verizon sacrifices people so that their bottom line looks good.
