I have been working at Verizon as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

In my particular dept, we're not micromanaged. Our managers trust us to handle our projects and manage our schedules as we need. This is a big morale boost. I love working in a leading edge industry, and Verizon is at the front. Verizon is very professionally run, on the ball, great people to work with. I love coming to work - I don't hate Mondays here!

    Cons

Verizon/telecom industry... evolves at a faster pace than other industries, so it can be volutile, and at times worrisome. They have big and small layoffs almost monthly.

    Pros

once you start your interview process they don't make you wait forever and they keep you informed every step of the way and carry rewarding benefits

    Cons

No cons so far besides them being right in the heart of traffic, but that's as expected.

    Pros

Excellent pay and the benefits are great. Everyone at work gets along and the morale is okay as well. But it depends on the manager you get as well.

    Cons

Micro management and impossible to meet Done of the desired results. Favoritism is also in the workplace as well

I worked at Verizon full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Integrity of leadership. Community involvement. Support of Veterans. Verizon Foundation supporting many charitable organizations. Environment that encourages employee contribution to the organization as well as their community. A true open door policy to leadership. Individual and team recognition. Total benefits package includes very competitive salary, tuition assistance, matching 401K contributions, healthcare. This was my experience and largely the reason I was there for almost 30 years (through multiple company acquisitions and mergers).

    Cons

There are really very few negatives worth comment. However, like any company there are issues that have to be addressed periodically. Again as with any company no matter the size there is a small percentage of leadership that do not live up to the credo including integrity. There are staffing decisions that are not always based on the best qualified candidate and I think that would be the biggest issue that needs to addressed.

    Advice to Management

Continue to make integrity number 1 in the credo and in practice. Work harder to ensure all levels of management truly live that credo.

    Pros

Benefits and product discounts are excellent

    Cons

Supervisor very unprofessional and condescending to employees.

    Advice to Management

Call-Center Employees should be rated according to "their" customer skills and not of the retail store rep the customer previously spoke to.

    Pros

Great benefits especially health care and 401k are very good. Telecommuting - You have good flexibility to work from home.

    Cons

This is very political place. Various teams fight for control and things go to very low level. Career growth is luck factor here. Competence is much secondary. If you butter your boss for long time then he may have mercy on you to give you promotion.

    Advice to Management

Fire all lower and middle management. They are just puppets being promoted.
