    Pros

The job was engaging; I met a lot of good people there and have made lasting relationships with some. New Proprietary technologies are always evolving, so you are learning cutting edge technology on the fly, you are always in school. It is a challenge. There are always job openings internally and you can move out of departments quite easily once you're in there.

    Cons

Because the technology is proprietary, your skills are for the most part obsolete to the outside. I was not a fan of the work schedule as I worked a "tweener" of 2nd and 3rdshift. That I really did not like, but I had no choice at the time.

    Advice to Management

Perhaps I would say to offer a 4 day work week and more flexible hours. After all, we work to live not live to work. Or a flex shift so that you get the opportunity in a weekly basis to change your shift just to keep things fresh.

    Pros

Integrity of leadership. Community involvement. Support of Veterans. Verizon Foundation supporting many charitable organizations. Environment that encourages employee contribution to the organization as well as their community. A true open door policy to leadership. Individual and team recognition. Total benefits package includes very competitive salary, tuition assistance, matching 401K contributions, healthcare. This was my experience and largely the reason I was there for almost 30 years (through multiple company acquisitions and mergers).

    Cons

There are really very few negatives worth comment. However, like any company there are issues that have to be addressed periodically. Again as with any company no matter the size there is a small percentage of leadership that do not live up to the credo including integrity. There are staffing decisions that are not always based on the best qualified candidate and I think that would be the biggest issue that needs to addressed.

    Advice to Management

Continue to make integrity number 1 in the credo and in practice. Work harder to ensure all levels of management truly live that credo.
