I have been working at Verizon full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Resources, deep pockets, respect in the marketplace.

    Cons

Command and control leadership who are not visionaries. Staff is composed of lifers who are absolutely not motivated or driven. Teams are not held accountable to missed deadlines somes late by months or years for straightforward projects. Also, there is a lack of diversity at the Sr. Director level on up. Pale stale and male.

I worked at Verizon full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Fun work environment, work-life balance is great. Deadlines are not that crazy depending on the position you are working.

    Cons

Age old norms, company runs more on seniority then on actually value produced. Work can get monotonous sometimes. Moving up can be a challenge. Compensation is low comapred to industry average.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Inflow of new talent and fresh graduates over all departments and not just IT.

I worked at Verizon as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

    Employee perks/discounts, large company, salary

    Cons

incompetent management, large company, managers are promoted based on favoritism and politics not skill, unsupportive team members, no understanding of work/life balance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

start promoting employee who have the skills to be managers- assertiveness, ability to run a team, reliability. Turnover is so high because employees are worked too many hours and run down and exhausted so they leave for somewhere with more work/life balance.
