    Hoping to survive layoffs

Member of Technical Staff - Systems Engineering Consultant (Former Employee) Colorado Springs, CO

ProsThe setting in Colorado Springs is beautiful. The weather is nice. The facility is clean. The health and 401(k) benefits are very good. The pay is good.

ConsThe pay is good, but after reaching a certain level, raises become mediocre. There were limited opportunities for learning skills not directly related to the job. Even training for skills essential to the job was hard to get.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop off-shoring every job that can be done remotely. Provide training besides computer-based training.

If you like to drink the kool-aid and look past the terrible customer service.....sign-up.

    Operations Manager (Former Employee)

ProsGreat salary, OK benefits (compared to market)

ConsThere are shrinking perks. The company has gotten huge.....and it acts like it. No pension..less contribution to health care. Leaders are always afraid of something which makes for an unreasonably stressful environment.

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove customer service and perception regardless of the cost. Blow your budget if necessary. You'll probably be fired or banned from Basking Ridge...but you'll be a hero!

Not a place to stay long term...

Network Engineer (Former Employee) Cary, NC

ProsExcellent benefits with 401k matching. Depending in the job, they pay overtime with no problem.

ConsThere is no room to move up in company once you get hired on. There are so many "RIF's", which is a term that is used by the company other than using layoffs that doesn't have to be reported to the media that most people (literally 70%) are in fear if losing their jobs. Some managers shouldn't have their position. Alot don't know what the hell they are doing and just kissing senior management's butts.

This company is so political that it's killing it. The motto is customers first which is a killer. Employees should be first then the customer. There is definitely favoritism in every department in which destroys most teams.

They are ramping up to send alot of jobs overseas and everyone knows it.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat everyone equally and quit sending jobs overseas. Alot of good people are leaving the company for this reason alone. Employee retention would increase dramatically if this was to stop.

Once Verizon took over for GTE, it was all downhill after that.

411 Operator (Former Employee) Lexington, KY

ProsPay and benefits were the best thing.

ConsHaving to be in a Union; only allowed the rear end kissers to advance in the company; lied to all the employees about the Call Center closing when they knew it was, etc.

Advice to Senior ManagementAllow the good employees to do their job and get rid of the bad.

    Forget about it!

Senior Tech (Former Employee) Dallas, TX

ProsSome great coworkers and exciting projects.

ConsClueless management. Very political. Dominated by the Indian mafia. Really headed downhill. Can't survive unless you're part of the club. Technical managers have no idea about the technology their teams are using.

    Advice to Senior Managementwake up.

    Tale of multiple companies...

    Director (Former Employee) Irving, TX

ProsThe wireless business is strong, and well run, basically props up the other business units. The Consumer business is also well run, very different dynamic.

ConsThe Enterprise business is a burden to the company until it begins to show growth, they lack vision, direction and investment is inadequate to compete effectively.

Advice to Senior ManagementDecide what you want to do with the Enterprise business and do it...do something, it's a mess. Spin off Wireless and create more value for stock holders.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
