Pros
Co-workers are the companies best asset. Strong technology focus, adaptive to market trends. Great benefits, training, bonus package, and incentives. Flexible schedule and the ability to work remote. Good job security if you live in the Phillipines...
Cons
Employees are overloaded and overworked. There is not enough focus from senior management to address customer issues and employee concerns. What good are surveys if current management doesn't care what the customer has to say. When the economy begins to get better, the good employees that are left will eventually leave and find employement elsewhere. Customers and employees biggest complaint - having to deal with three seperate companies instead of one. Senior management = empty suits
Advice to Senior Management
Senior management should re-evaluate direction of the company. Employee surveys have not worked in the past. Use town hall meetings and listen to the employees concerns and suggestions. Reassure employees they will not be laid off for being honest and upfront. Develop inter-deparmental teams for better communications come up with solutions and new ideas. It will provide the customer with a better experience and make it a better place to work for everyone. Listening to your customers (internal/external) is job #1!
Pros
People, training, technology, brand recognition.
Cons
Compensation, red tape, custom solution delivery.
Pros
Providees opportunity to learn. There is some advancement potential.
Cons
Very tactical in nature. It is a follower in the industry. No planning.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to slow down the work force reduction and listen to employees
Pros
Verizon can be a great place to work if you have the right manager--one who understands the value of their IT staff, recognizes their talent, and allows them with some flexibility in their workplace and hours.
Cons
There's currently too much of a push to offshore as much IT work as possible resulting in a constant threat of being laid off. There's no loyalty to employees who have been dedicated to the company for years. Verizon doesn't seem to care about their employees.
Pros
The pay is competitive, and the people in the trenches are good. The flexibility is nice, work from home, good vacation, good work/life balance.
Cons
They grew too fast and cannot support the large organization. The draconian processes put in place to mitigate the growing pains are suffocating. Everyone feels disconnected from management, even management itself.
Advice to Senior Management
Grow smarter. Set a strategic vision and share it with the team so everyone knows the goals that we are striving for and how to achieve them. Allow people to cut through red tape for rational reasons.
Pros
Great benefits
Corporate communication is good
Workplace surroundings are good
Fairly treated
Good performance-based bonus system to enhance salary
Support network always available
Cons
Leadership does not listen to feedback from employees.
Leadership does not listen to and implement ideas from employees.
Cross-departmental communication is not good.
Advice to Senior Management
When you have town hall meetings, listen to suggestions and ideas from employees currently involved in the projects you have .
Pros
Great salary, great benefits. Verizon pays very well for this position even though you will put in a great effort to earn your pay. The company is very by-the-book which can be good at times because you know where you stand and what is expected so there is no confusion. The health benefits are currently one of the best out there which is very reassuring. the work atmospheres (of course I can not speak for every location) are very friendly and the dress code is very relaxed.
Cons
Over some years now, the company has shifted to a more aggressive approach toward sales which is somewhat understandable given the rising competition in our ever changing world (especially where technology is concerned.) Given the position's already stressful nature of dealing with the fluctuating emotions of customers, This tends to put added strain on consultants to sell and meet expected monthly sales goals. Shift work. Shift/tours are not consistent week to week which makes it difficult to attain a sense of routine for family and or outside of work life. The company is extremely strict with regard to punctuality and attendance. Being present and on time is very important, however anxiety is created at times when one is worried about being 2 mins late from a break. (and I am not exagerrating!) If you are someone who tends to not always be on time, you may want to reconsider this position in the company.
Advice to Senior Management
May want to consider pulling back on aggresiveness of selling technique and return toi roots of primarily providing one of the best customer service experiences among companies. Attempt to develop a more consistent shift system for employees.. this will aid in family life routines and making out of work appointments (ex. doctor, teacher meetings etc.) And it is Better for overall health for the body to have a more consistent routine which could decrease the instances of absence due to illness.
Pros
Nice work culture. Manager was cooperative.
Cons
Unsure about the contract due to acquisitions.
Advice to Senior Management
upper managament Should have better commnications with all the employees and contractors.
Pros
Good People, flexible with time off, good training
Cons

Advice to Senior Management
Talk to the employees in the trenches to really find out what's working and what's not
Pros

Cons
Unnecessary Work just to show that team members are busy, Very odd working hours even in IT, Unnecessary application are maintained. Not well paid
Advice to Senior Management
Pay well, Provide good benefits, Make working hours during week days only, hire productive and efficient people instead hiring friends and family members.
