Pros
Management works well with employees
Cons
Lack of promotions in recent years.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote. It has been years.
Pros
Prior to 2009, we had a great environment. I had the best SE Manager I've ever worked for, the branch morale was good, sales reps were making their numbers, and Verizon Business was a great place to work. Benefits were and continue to be great.
Cons
After the end of 2008, a reorg changed my entire organization. My SE Director was let go, but luckily my SE Manager was kept in place. However, after he worked for the new SE DIrector for a few weeks he moved to a sales job because the new SED was such militaristic ass. After that change, our whole department was in disarray, people were miserable, and our morale and productivity went to zero despite working more hours. In addition, the entire Dallas sales branch sank into low numbers largely because their quotas were inflated to unachievable levels. This place is currently one of the most unpleasant places to work that I've ever been part of due to all the RIFs and unhappy employees. My former manager and a couple of my peers have all moved on to a competitor and are very happy; now I'm trying to join them.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep your good managers, their employees enjoy working for them for a reason. Don't micromanage everything, and don't treat professional employees as though they work in a sweatshop. Don't cut expenses and finances to the point that employees feel like the company is going into bankruptcy when it's making huge profits every quarter.
Pros
Competitive salary and good benefits
Cons
Too many layoffs causes low morale
Advice to Senior Management
Figure out strategy
Pros
Good benefits. Although the benefit has been lagging year over year. Pays good 401K contribution , 6%. Flexible with work hours. As long as you are ahrd working employee, the managers will let you work at your schedule but still within business hours.
Cons
Favortism stands out. I rest my case.
Advice to Senior Management
Kepe up the good work.
Pros
Great pay and benifits, direct management very understanding of time off needed with family and for health reasons.
Cons
Constant threat of layoffs, upper management clueless of value that workers provide.
Advice to Senior Management
Look more to your ability to guide your organization and your effectiveness to encourage innovation in your people rather than allowing Wall Street to make your decisions. The company will grow and be profitable if this methodology is followed but will eventually fail if ignored.
Pros
Great benifits, decent pay, nice work facilities
Cons
Endless layoffs! Leadership is two faced on topic, gives false hopes about layoffs, claiming if company is doing good and the numbers are met that the layoffs will end, then turn around and let go of 10% across the board even when numbers are met, and continue outsource efforts to India & Philippines. Layoffs have seriously impacted stability, most of the company is struggling to survive with limited staff.
Advice to Senior Management
The company is making money hand over fist, we have a talented work force ensuring the network is second to none, treat the employees with respect and give them hope in job security!
Pros
best Telecom company with a variety of opportunities to grow & learn
Cons
frequent outsourcing and downsizing -management changing
Advice to Senior Management
to be open -be flexible -be inclusive of employees and management
Pros
time off goffy people not a good place to work pay not good ceo goffy has his own tv show
Cons
desk or work area not very good
Advice to Senior Management
goffy
Pros
Overall good pay and benefits, good opportunities for add'l training. Large company so some opporturnities for lateral moves within wireline and wireless (but very limited between the two).
Cons
Can be very political, despite the outward communications to customers and marketplace, VZ is still essentially 3 totally distinct and seperate companies (i.e. Telecom, Business and Wireless) and there is minimal cohesiveness or integrated consolidated offers to the marketplace. Morale is an issue after several years of 15K+ layoffs annually, almost all on the wireline side. Minimal opportunities for upward advancement, it's more a matter of survival.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't just talk about 1 company - integrate Telecom, Business and Wireless and present one company face to the marketplace. AT&T has done this for past few years.....customers continue to ask us about integrated offers, contracts, etc., and we are running out of excuses after several years.
Pros
Very structured, GPS and Techwizard follows every keystroke you do.
Cons
Forced Overtime every day day
Advice to Senior Management
Lighten up on technicians. They do know what they are doing...
