I have been working at Verizon full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Very good compensation. Wonderful coworkers.

    Cons

Some departments are micro-managed with particular emphasis coming from the law department who touches every initiative and generally in a negative manner. Most director level personnel need training in how to manage teams effectively.

I worked at Verizon full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good benefits, decent pay, a team lead that cared.

    Cons

As a 17 year employee I watched this monster grow up. They swallowed good small companies and became a mega giant driven by pure profit. Watching top executive leaders jump ship left and right was heart breaking. I was laid off after having my first daughter and came back a year later for less than half of my salary. People who work there are so stressed. Two have committed suicide and many suffer from depression and a feeling of imprisonment.

I have been working at Verizon full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Wages that is about it

    Cons

Company is being ruined by upper management No concern for customer or employees . Decisions being made that make no sense . Techs outside are being forced to work 6-7 days a week because management can't manage work load. Not enough employees in any department to do the work

I have been working at Verizon full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

In the past Verizon was a company you could count on.

    Cons

UNION environment and Upper Managements constant bending to the Union and overall non support of management when push comes to shove.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Verizon full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good benefits package for an employee, education assistance up to a max of 8k, telecommute option and flexible work schedule. highly discounted very good gym facility for employees, may not be available at all locations. Company matches up to 6% of employee contribution in 401k. Annual performance related bonuses. Will I go back? Yes, I will. On my terms.

    Cons

Security? Whats that? Layoffs is the norm. Best is to keep your skills & knowledge sharp and up to date. And keep changing companies. Several years ago pension scheme was reduced to 401k. Change is the name of the game. Go with the flow.

I have been working at Verizon full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great benefits, excellent pay and ability to work from home

    Cons

if you like to be silo'ed and are willing to compromise face-time with peers --- this is your job. I like to be in-front of people and actually have a REAL conversation vs. IMing

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Telework is good but need to have your team's meet more then just once a month and finally TRAIN your folks internally.

I have been working at Verizon full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Verizon continues to pay a very good salary, Strong 401k managed through fidelity with very good choices for investment, 6% match - dollar fir dollar, people/ employees are excellent, vacation policy,

    Cons

Senior Management. Sales management. Too many cuts in recent years have impacted service, quality of offerings. MCI reverse merger negatively impacted business services, leaving too many political pockets which created a negative environment to foster and develop outstanding personnel. Too much chasing daily and weekly numbers at the expense of solution development and long term business relationship development. The sales philosophy of MC I did bankrupt a company after all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Embrace all employees - not the flavor of the month - such as wireless, MCI etc at the expense of others. Need to be leaders in the market, innovators - buying a Terremark and slapping it into Verizon doesn't work unless clear strategic value is identified and strategy is properly implemented. Stop reacting and be the driving force behind technology for the globe.
