I worked at Verizon full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I have perfect attendance for 34 years and was in the top tier for yearly awards every year.

    Cons

Since I was working and testing code we had to be precise ad make sure that the code does work, if not we send a investigate back to coder.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked myself up from a Representative to a senior QA tester and I do that in any company by giving them my all no matter what.

    I worked at Verizon

    Pros

Your skills/ training are constantly being upgraded, lots of on line courses for your selection. Benefits were probably the best available. Very comfortable, professional environment.

    Cons

Lots of movement between departments (consolidation), my department was relocated to FL. Constantly worried about being relocated very far.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Direct Management was wonderful, constructive input. cared about their employees. Treated teams as a cohesive unit. Planned fun activities for stess releivers.

I have been working at Verizon

    Pros

Good pay and benefits. Good people, most everyone. Was there to work and never had any major issues with anyone.

    Cons

Its a call center, so there are lots of numbers to be met. Work load can be overwhelming and spectrum of knowledge. Needed is wide. Pretty stressful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There should me more parties and everyone should get cake for their birthdays. Facities could be improved upon.

I worked at Verizon full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company with great training and great benefits. Opportunities for growth personally and professionally.

    Cons

HUGE reduction in force has been going on since last September (2014).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have to do what you have to do to keep the company profitable. Business is business, but laying off people that are successful in a sales role does not seem logical.

I worked at Verizon full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent salary and benefits. Amazing tuition reimbursement plan. They paid for my bachelor's and master's degrees. I was very lucky to have worked for the company for over 20 years.

    Cons

Verizon claims they have an excellent work/life balance which is false. If you are management your job is never safe.If you take maternity leave, expect to be punished when you return. I never had children, but many of my female co-workers who did were treated unfairly when they returned. Some even lost their jobs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want dedicated workers to stay you must create a better work/life balance environment, respect male and female workers equally and create an environment of continuous respect.

    I worked at Verizon

    Pros

Great benefits package, 4% matching 401K, yearly bonuses based on company performance.

    Cons

It is difficult to keep up with the continual process and software changes. Day to day, things change and often putting the cart before the horse. Lack of upward mobility and opportunities as Verizon attempts to redefine itself. As cutbacks and layoffs continue, more and more work and added responsibilities are added to each employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Speak to your employees more and spend time getting to know their pain points so that this information may be shared with upper management.
