I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time for more than a year

ProsMedical benefits, tuition reimbursement, discount on phone service, potential for career growth

ConsIt is hard to get out of the call center without relocating to another state first. The pay was not high enough for the distance I was traveling. I hear they starting rate is higher now though.

Good company to work for, but a hard company to work for at the same time!

Customer Specialist (Current Employee)
Alpharetta, GA

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time for less than a year

Pros401K, Health Benefits, Tuition Reimbursements, Decent time-off, continuous job training since rules, policies, procedures, products and services change like socks!

ConsStatistics and Surveys should be evaluated more fairly.

Advice to Senior ManagementRevise survey and statistics requirements to make them more fair and attainable, otherwise it will lead to reps deceiving customers in order to achieve them.

Anything but credibility in Georgia

Account Representative (Former Employee)
Alpharetta, GA

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time for more than a year

ProsExcellent benefits from Day 1

ConsCall center without any real career growth or career mapping into other areas of the business. You really have to be aggressive and drive your network yet I found the Georgia environment discouraging of promotions outside the phone group.

Advice to Senior ManagementA company wide focus on Management growth and development is required.

Great company to work for - they value their employees

Senior Analyst (Current Employee)

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time for more than 3 years

ProsCompetitive salaries and great benefits. Opportunity for growth. Good leadership. Tuition reimbursement program.

ConsOffices are always in suburban areas - typically 40+ minutes outside of the nearest large city. Only a con for people who prefer city living.

Great company, great workers, great environment and benefits to help you put up with the less than great customers.

Customer Service Representative (Current Employee)
Alpharetta, GA

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time for more than a year

ProsYou are given loads of training and support all through your starting period. You have great incentives to achieve certain goals and it can still be used a success on your resume so double the rewards.

ConsYou have to know a little about everything from the bill to phone and everything in between. You are the expert and if you don't know the information then you at least should know how to find out and quickly. Most customers will call you on their lunch break or on their way to/from work and their time is valuable to them. Also you have to know how to let a bad experience roll off you. A customer will call in upset, not at you directly but you are the first person they talk to about this and they will blame "you" for everything. You can in most situations resolve their problem but not if you get upset with them.

Advice to Senior ManagementGreat job on everything, only advice is to give more training in handling confrontational customers.
